Profile: Barkeeper

Personal background
I'm 30 year old Croatian guy, who was born 1971 in Freiburg, a small City in southwestern Germany. After my final Exam at a grammar scool i just tried to study at an university, but i found out, that academical life is nothing for me. So i started a Training as a trader. Now i'm an owner of a copyshop here in Freiburg, and i'm working the same time for one of the biggest insurance companies here in Germany. I'm not married, engaged or in a relation with a woman, not yet :-), i think, that i still have enough time for this. My favourite music is Heavy-Metal and Rock, but also i like good made music of other music-styles. My Nickname "Barkeeper" is a result of my first appearance in a chat-community, because at that time i was jobbing on weekends as a Barkeeper :-), so everybody called me "Barkeeper", and i just did that job on some Chatter-Meetings. My relation to computers is based in Programming in Visual Basic, and stuff needing the PC in my Copyshop.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm convinced, that there has to be life outside earth. I can't imagine, that mankind is the crown of gods creations :-). I think, we will discover ET that time, when we solve our internal Problems (hunger, war etc.), so we can afford our ressources on really important things, like special-materials-developement (superconducters etc.), physical and astrophysical developements and so on. Also it would be helpfull, if the goverments of the world wouldn't block such developements everytime (for example: Nuclear Power was first used as a Bomb, and not as a power supply). Benefits? Maybe the realization, that our conflicts are silly in a much huger context. Dangers? I think, that a lot of people will have problems with the knowledge of just being a grain of sand in the universe (especially religious leaders), so i think, it will be a 50-50 chance, if mankind will take ET as benefit or as a danger.

I run SETI@home, because i think it's way among other ways to detect ET, and it's a way, everybody can take part. And i would really be glad watching/listening to a transmission beginning like "THIS IS ET'S CNN-COSMIC REPORT, I'M ALF...AND NOW THE WHEATHERFORECAST FOR ALPHA CENTAURI". As a suggestion: Maybe the SETI-Project should concentrate the scans on stars which have planets. I think it doesn't make sense of scanning a region where mostly double- and triple-Star-systems are :-), so this would presuppose a collaboration with the "Planet-Hunters".
