Hello. I'm now retired from the US Navy. I am an ex-Electrician's Mate, ex-Missile Technician (go Boomers!) and used to work as an Information System Technician. I've been contributing to SETI@HOME for about 20 years, but my progress has slowed down due to electricity costs and heat output from all of the systems. One day soon I'll be able to power everything from solar power, and not have to worry about power costs!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@Home because the concept of a worldwide, home-based computer network used to analyze the dish's data is an awesome use of unused computer power. I run the program as often as possible, which is all the time. In fact, I built a server just for running Seti@Home (and file storage)!
