I am a 38yo California native who was raised on Sci-Fi and a belief that we could not possibly be alone in the Universe. With all the diverse forms of life that come crawling out of every nook and cranny of Earth, how could the rest of the Universe be a void - It cannot be!
I am a Network Engineer by trade (Novell CNE) which lets me get a paycheck for playing with the toys of my hobby for the last 18 years. Lately I have begun efforts to put in a Garden Scale Railroad in my back yard but without the whole planet changing over to a 36 hour day, I think it may be a while before that starts to take shape...
I am married to the most incredible wife a man could ask for - Intelligent, pretty, best friend... and have two sons aged 16 and 6.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home (Now under BOINC) in the hope that someday we may be able to make out an intelligible signal from some ancient civilization that will confirm that again, life crawls out of the crevaces of the Universe. I'm very glad to a part of that effort. I only hope the signal we receive isn't "42" - Thanks Douglas Adams!
Currently, I run the SETI client on 6 systems using three different platforms and I am looking into using Linux on some SparcStation2 systems.
