Personal background
Systems Engineer for a college in Utah here. I have many computers at my disposal. This is the reason for my high numbers in SETI 1. As of 9/30/04 im approaching the 900,000 mark. I havent converted all the machines to BOINC but will once it becomes more stable. I run SETI 1 on about 300-400 machines and love it. I think that i should be joining Carolyns Clinc because of my addiction. As a matter of fact i was a member there once then i left thinking that i was cured, but found that i really wasnt.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Once when I was little, I was sleeping out under the stars and I saw, what I thought was a satellite moving across the sky. But then something weird happened. The moving light in the sky stopped in the sky and then flashed as if it took a picture or something, then it sped away into the dark at an extreme fast pace. I was positive that it wasn’t an airplane because it was too far away, and planes don’t stop in mid-flight. I felt that it was something Extraterrestrial, I believe that other life exists out there, but I am not sure that we, in this life, will gain the knowledge that they exist. Until then, we should make the effort to try.
I think that it is awesome that S.E.T.I. can use the unused resources of the world.
