Personal background
The USA, is my home.

A few details... inactive Marine; former MET-Life Rep; former heavy equipment systems designer, integrater and troubleshooter; former systems engineer and chief diagnostician at a large simulated-climate testing facility. And finally, former cemetery manager. Now semi-retired while in protracted recovery from a near-fatal but still unidentified toxic exposure.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Running Seti@home is one way that anyone can contribute to exploration. Since very few of us will ever get to personally explore beneath the sea, under the earth's crust... or into the vastness of space.

I am not alone, seriously. There's a creature that follows me almost everywhere I go. It's scary, and is usually so close to me that it feels almost like a second skin... this one-dimensional thing. Thus far, it has made no attempt to cause me harm. And it has made no attempt to communicate with me. It mimicks every move I make. Often in a distorted manner. Is it trying to learn Earth culture? I'm just not sure.

The creature appears to thrive on light, and is most active during sunny days and well-lit nights. So many times I've tried to escape it, sometimes by running as fast as I can. Other times I try to blend into a large crowd of people, but when I emerge it is still with me.

At night, it seems to blend into the darkness. And that is scary, because I can't see it. It's been with me for many years now. So, I suppose it means me no harm. But, I still worry that one day it'll be done with me. And then what?

I suppose I'll just have to tolerate its presence, for however long this shadowy creature chooses me as its host.

I'm back to running SETI... again. I have three (3) GTX295 GPU cards installed. Though, I do have six of them total.

I just finished installing two new GTX590 GPU cards, along with the one GTX295 GPU card.

Well, now my main cruncher has FOUR (4) new GTX590 GPU cards installed and running, for eight (8) solid and very fast threads of computing power.

I just put my main cruncher back online, with

"Hey, ET.... yeah you... you have a sister who likes earthlings?"

I donate money to SETI@home yearly.... do you?

I'm just slowly BOINC, BOINC, BOINC'ing along.
