I live and breathe for computers! So combining computing and SETI is brilliant for me.
I live in a small town near Manchester in the UK.
I own several computers which are all switched on 24/7 in the search for E.T.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do in fact believe that other intelligent life exists - we are arrogant to believe that we are the only ones in the whole known universe. There are in fact several references to 'Gods' - which I believe are actually 'aliens' who visited our world when we were a primitive, under-developed race. To 'primitives' these advanced technological people would appear as God's - sorry if there are any serious religious people out there, but surely if you think about it logically my theories are probably easier to believe than yours.
I do believe that SETI is a great ideal, and that without the 'beacon' other intelligence out there MAY not know how we have advanced technologically if we have been visited before, or even not visited at all. The downside is if we do find them, that they may not be friendly.
