I'm a 45 year old software developer working for AT&T. My wife and I run a mail and web server out of our house in order to keep technically challenged and to put our older computers to good use. We each run SETI at home and on some work computers when they are idle.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
That life exists outside of earth is very likely. Even in our limited explorations of the solar system and extraterrestrial rocks that have landed on earth we've seen evidence.
Is there extreterrestrial life capable of detecting a signal from us and capable and willing to do something that we can detect in return? I think that statisically there must be. Even if the odds of any given star hosting such life are vanishingly low, we know it is possible because we are here. And there are a lot of stars.
