On Wednesday afternoon Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders followed through on a promise to introduce a universal healthcare programme that replaces the current regulated free-market insurance system with a government-run one.

It's becoming clear - if it wasn't already - that the upcoming Democratic presidential nomination contest, which will begin in earnest in 2019, will be conducted on progressive soil. The danger for candidates is seeming too moderate or too timid, and support for single-payer is a relatively easy way to burnish their liberal bona fides.

I'm glad to see you posting! I'm pretty sure I know your views but can you expand on your comments here? Also, penny for your thoughts on why this movement seems to be growing (or maybe it isn't)? What is it that's so appealing to people that they join these socially unacceptable groups? Or am I completely off base here? Please add additional comments! I'd love to read them.

How have we even got to the point where Nazi's aren't automatically the bad guys? I'm mystified.

Every day I watch the news and I see the media trying to guild the Trump turd, trying to piece together something rational with what is clearly irrational. Now this fiction about there being some sort of alt-left at this demonstration who are just as bad as the Nazi's. I knew for a fact that if I read here, Clyde would be proclaiming this insanity and no doubt crying foul at anyone who points out he's effectively a Nazi sympathizer now. (If this hasn't happened already...its about to).

Some truths are self evident. One of these is that Nazi's are bad and you really ought to supporting the people that oppose them.

Our ruling class in DC is supposed to be contained (limited). They've escaped over the last 100 years. The swamp creatures are running wild. The tyranny of progressivism is growing stronger and stronger. The ruling class of DC must be re-contained.

My wifey and I now can't even count on all of our fingers the people in our lives that have either become addicted to heroin or have died from overdose. The problem is beyond an epidemic from what I can tell.

I read this yesterday and all I could think was: fentanyl. Because it is being added to other narcotics especially heroin it is causing street heroin to become overdose-prone. I didn't have any recent corroboration but then just today in one of our local newspapers: 'Safe' injection site tests show approximately 80% of drugs contain deadly fentanyl

Fentanyl is safe enough to be used medically when diluted properly by someone trained, but it is so strong it is too easy to get the mixture wrong and it becomes deadly.

Yet another thing that would not happen if this ridiculous "War on Drugs" was ended and addicts could purchase narcotics with proper quality controls prepared by certified people.

Personally I reckon that it should've been legal for a very long time now.

Then there would've been a lot less need for those jails, there would've been a hell of a lot less violence, there would've been a lot less theft/robbery and a lot less pressure on emergency health services due to there would've been a lot less need for those cheaper hard drugs which wouldn't have gotten the foothold that they have now.
