can`t connect to boinc client
(Message 268390)
Posted 25 Mar 2006 by Viv Langham & Graham Hope Post: If it is installed as single or multi user, cd to the install directory, and run BOINC.exe. If it is now running, you are the victim of a bug that has hopefully been fixed in 5.1. I have suddenly been unable to connect today, although had no problem yesterday. When I ran BOINC.exe and then started the Manager it worked. Does this mean I'm suffering from the bug you mentioned, or could there be another reason? I am running 5.2.13 on XP. |

Cannot download any work from Seti "...failed with a return value of 500"
(Message 208981)
Posted 10 Dec 2005 by Viv Langham & Graham Hope Post: Apologies for not actually answering the question - I have a similar problem today (did not have it yesterday, despite the upload/download issues). I would have clicked "I have the same question", however I wanted to add that, unlike the original poster, I have not just got BOINC to work and have been downloading WU successfully from Seti in the past 48 hrs. Is this "No schedulers responded" error simply a further permutation of the on-going problems, or something I can address at my end? 10/12/2005 3:21:51 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 10/12/2005 3:21:51 PM|SETI@home|Reason: Requested by user 10/12/2005 3:21:51 PM|SETI@home|Requesting 43200 seconds of new work 10/12/2005 3:21:56 PM|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed with a return value of 500 10/12/2005 3:21:56 PM|SETI@home|No schedulers responded 10/12/2005 3:23:56 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 10/12/2005 3:23:56 PM|SETI@home|Reason: Requested by user 10/12/2005 3:23:56 PM|SETI@home|Requesting 43200 seconds of new work 10/12/2005 3:24:01 PM|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed with a return value of 500 10/12/2005 3:24:01 PM|SETI@home|No schedulers responded 10/12/2005 3:26:56 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 10/12/2005 3:26:56 PM|SETI@home|Reason: Requested by user 10/12/2005 3:26:56 PM|SETI@home|Requesting 43200 seconds of new work 10/12/2005 3:27:01 PM|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed with a return value of 500 10/12/2005 3:27:01 PM|SETI@home|No schedulers responded |

HELLO?
(Message 208963)
Posted 10 Dec 2005 by Viv Langham & Graham Hope Post: The original post by you seems to contain no question of any kind: I've been running SETI@home since I first heard about it more than 6 years ago. I'm nowhere near the top in work units processed because I'm a single user with, until early last year, only one computer. But I am a dedicated fan of the project. That is, I was. No more. This BOINC software defies even the best intentions. I use Windows XP and 98 and had to download a 10 MB file over a dial-up connection --- which took about an hour. The new software has totally failed; despite the claims of the Website I am not recognized as a registered user even though I re-registered. After many frustrating tries to make it work I've given up. The original SETI@home program was beautifully simple and easy to use. What the technogeeks have done is make a simple process so complicated that it drives away users like me. What amazing stupidity! |
