This is so sad. I've literally been running this project for half my life. I began in 2002!

How about a nice paper certificate for contributors with 1,000,000+ credit? Something of significance or memorabilia?

you will wait in vain.

If what my computers have analyzed needs to be reanalyzed, then why isn't our computers doing it to help out?

that's the problem. and nobody will answer it.
it is incomprehensible to me how little information all participants are satisfied with.
after all these years, just a brief announcement.

everyone can write what they want here, but nobody will receive a qualified answer!
not after 20 years of voluntary help. that is very poor.
we have had 20 years. you don't have an hour to answer a few important questions

SETI never had such good conditions, never before were so many exoplanets discovered.
Stop at this point? this is a fake.
I think seti-institut found something and they don't need us anymore.

The so called "Wow!" signal was received here on August 15, 1977 so why not hold it on its anniversary dates?

Cheers.

For several reasons some already stated:
1. Overload of the Electric Power Grid in the hottest period of the year in areas of the Northern Hemisphere.
2. Unnecessary wear and tear on the refrigerated Air Conditioning systems of the computer-occupied structures.
3 Potential damage to computer systems while operating at near high temperature limits.
4. Enhanced cost factors for electric power consumption and for damage to and/or replacement of failed hardware.
5. Personal discomfort from high temperatures within the room(s) where computing components are located.
6. And last but certainly not least: All the factors stated plus possibly others would be measurably reduced by aggressive computing during cooler periods.

I appreciate all inputs. Bill

Forecast today: 105 Fahrenheit and 40.55 Centigrade.

7. It's vacation time.
I myself was on vacation until yesterday and can not participate.

Donate yes, but never again via pay pal to gpu!
I donated 2 times to gpu for seti, no star, no feedback received. even after much back and forth and many mails it was inconclusive.
A friend of mine (in my team) has the same experience.
that should not happen.

I hide my donations because I don't judge people on whether they donate or not, you might also find it "odd" I have my add blocker hide all donation status on every single poster here.

You're right.
I'm not talking about green stars. Please have a look at the donation history. That could and should be better.

Eric knows what is wrong, flaky Mysql and Informix databases bloated with 20 years of data, and servers at least 4 years old, out of their depth trying to cope with it all. No money and no staff. In the last 24 hours alone the project has lost another 100 active users.

It is a pity that so few users throw something into the donation fund. Very much invest in expensive GPU's. A few dollars donations would help the project a lot.
The project with the largest Cult status should be worth a few dollars, I think.
Then it works with the technology!

When I read about the many problems I become thoughtful.
It somehow reads everything like in the 90s, in the beginning.

You got a lot of money. There should be something left for stability and better data management. It is also incomprehensible to me how every Tuesday the service can fail and maintenance is operated? Surely you have a lot of data, but we are writing the year 2017.
Imagine, google does it every Wednesday, you can not search because there's maintenance going on. :-) ... And Google has, I think, much more data.

This is not meant to be evil.

That was a few thoughts ... Greetings Schmeily

Wait a minute here.
Schmeily.............that donation is over a year old.
Green stars only last a year.
I cannot get that fixed when the donation is that old.
Please make a new donation and I shall make sure that your green star is taken care of if it does not work properly.
Meow!

No sorry, the donation is from September 2017.
Here is the confirmation from PayPal. https://www.team-space-quest.de/data-download/donation.pdf
I have donated via the official form to GPU users with the SETI ID and email address.

If you do not have creditkate, you can donations via PayPal via GPU group.
that's what it says on the donations page.

I donated $ 25 via PayPal on the 2016 September 16th through the website http://www.gpuug.org/.

To date, I have not received the green star.

3 times Inquiry about the contact-form GPU users - no answer
a mail to donors@ssl.berkeley.edu - no answer
--- (Explanation on the donation page: If you have any questions, please send e-mail to: donors@ssl.berkeley.edu.)
a mail to the founder of GPU-group - no answer

Does the money arrive at SETI?
I do not know if I donate again ?!
Does SETI no longer need money?
