How curious that this is now coming to its end. I have been debating slowing my work and killing off a few older machines since I have achieved my own personal goal of making it 20 years with S@H. I will still be around but will search out another worthwhile project to apply my workhorses to. I was never very active in forums, but have enjoyed being a part of something bigger than all of us. Cheers to you all!

Wow. Time sure has flown by; just passed my 20 year mark last month!

Amazing how the technology has advanced from where we started with the CLI!

20 years was my "go to" point for this project, and as such, I'll probably be powering down most, if not all of my machines for a while to see what my power cost savings would be before bring some or all back online.

Congrats to the rest of you in the 20 year club!

I'm OK with the downtime when they can't create new WUs, but why should we have to go to the home page or post to the forums to find this stuff out?

I mean, they push notices out to the clients, announcing the latest available version upgrade, and other stuff like "News from Berkeley SETI Research Center", why not push the downtime or trouble issue stuff as a notice as well? I monitor my clients waaaaayy more than I hit the forums and such.

It's like wiping before you poop, it just don't make no sense!

IMHO. YMMV.

Crunch on!

All my machines seem to have enough work for the CPUs, but it seems that not a one of my GPUs are getting any work. I'm not active on the boards and don't get much into the details; I'm more of an "install it, set to use GPUs, and forget about it" cruncher. Are the GPU workunits just that scarce right now?I've got about 10-15 GPUs doing nothing it looks like.

I didn't even realize it until today. My where has the time gone?

And to think, my g/f thinks I'm nuts. Heck, you look at this, and it should show her I'm reliable, steady, and not afraid of committment! lol

Here's to another 10 years ...or more!!!

Happy Crunching!

I have a few "slow but steady" crunchers in my midst. Hey, they were just sitting there doing nothing anyways. Yeah, they are slow and are not as "efficient" as my newer rigs, but what the heck, now they are "doing" something whilst sitting, and also......I don't pay the electric bill!

I've had good luck over the years with Newegg .com and mwave.com. Been buying parts through them for ~9yrs; Never a problem. I am also a fan of pricewatch.com to find some deals.

My oldest was reported back on Oct 27th 2007. I've got +/- 4500 tasks in the queue for my 150 PC's (254 cores), although I know right now, I've got 46K+ pending credit waiting to be awarded. Gotta take the good with the bad, no?

Happy Crunching!
