Personal background
42 y/o WM. I live in central MN and I work as a Desktop Support Analyst for a medical device manufacturer in Minneapolis, MN. Been into computers for years. Spent just shy of 8 years in the USAF as a 1C1X1 and 3V0X1. Stationed at Lackland, Keesler, and Peterson. Into spending time with my fiance and our 2 children, S@H, Cars, MC's, Paintball, PC's, Silver Strike Bowling, Texas Hold 'Em, Playmaker trivia, Patriot Guard Riders, Amateur drag racing, Hockey (GO FLYERS!), etc. Pretty much just run of the mill "guy stuff".
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I first started out with S@H as a great way to benchmark my OC'd systems, and also because a friend of mine was involved with it, and we were competitive about who could process the fastest, the most, etc.

I run S@H now mainly for the fun and the competitiveness and to help my U.S.Air Force team try and find E.T. if possible.

I know in my gut that there is life out there. There has to be. How could it be that the human race is as far as it goes in this vast expanse of space and time?

I doubt that alien life will be found in my lifetime, I also doubt that there was a second shooter on the grassy knoll, I doubt that any of us will ever really find out what goes on at Area 51, finally, I also doubt that "I can't believe it's not butter!" actually tastes better than REAL butter.

Words to live by:

"Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic."
