I recently bought a gtx 970. Since then i've been getting "Postponed: CL file build failure" on astropulse tasks. How come?

I'm using lunatics 0.43a installer

I have not changed any of the settings in the software, should I?

You should probably just turn off CPU computing and only use the GPUs. Furthermore if you are interested in SETI crunching you might just consider dumping the two 470s on ebay and buying some Maxwell card(s) from Nvidia (GTX 750, 750TI, 960, 970). They are way more effective and will pay for themselves in reduced electricity bill in a year or so.

I have a machine that produces a bunch of errors, and generally does not feel as behaving correctly. Can you tell what the problem might be?

Here is one broken task, another one. The computer.

I was using lunatics 0.41 installer on it but uninstalled it this morning.

I was gaming a bit on that computer (not sure that this is relevant) and scrapped a bunch of intel_GPU astropulse WU. Now I don't have any AP intel_gpu units and the GPU is idling. Have I been blacklisted or something, how can I check? Or is this for a different thread? My other machines' intel_gpus have AP WU at the moment...

This is the machine.

The ideal solution would be the option for "duplicate display on this monitor", but I it is only available when using GPUs of the same vendor. I'm not sure.

Yeah, I thought of cloning but as far as I can tell it is only available on a single GPU with multiple outputs and me google searches indicate there is no workaround... I'll leave it like that for now and wait if a solution presents itself on it's own :)

I've seen this suggestion but do not know what this means. When there is nothing plugged into the HDMI output on the Intel GPU there is nothing I can extend anything onto. I'm using 8.1, and I admit I'm new to this OS, but when the cable is out there is no indication that the GPU exists anywhere in the display options. It is in the device manager however.

Perhaps this will help
http://www.hal6000.com/seti/manual_display_detect.htm

Thank you. This worked. However it was not the effect I was going after. My setup currently is that I have two "monitors", one is the one I use connected to a GTX 650 TI and the other is a AV reciever connected to the HDMI of the intel gpu. The problem is that to have the gpu enabled I only need to have the AV receiver on and on the corresponding video input switched - which is pretty much what the tutorial is about simulating - however then I have a desktop surface that is not usable and I don't want and windows keeps throwing stuff there, its not good.

What I was going after is something like this. I have an intel GPU that has AV receiver(TV) connected to it. OpenCL is available to BOINC, but no extended desktop is shown to TV. The issues with this is that either I start with TV off and no intel GPU is present. Or I start with AV receiver and there is a desktop surface I don't want and all the display options I have to remedy this turn the OpenCL off for BOINC.

In any case I think I can manage it. I found out that if I start BOINC with the second GPU enabled and then turn of the AV receiver then BOINC continues to see the OpenCL device. It's a bit cumbersome but I rarely restart the computer anyway so for now it works.

I just bought a Haswell CPU i5-4570 with a HD 4600 GPU. Unfortunately it only work when there is a display connected to the device and I do not want that. I want to use my GTX 650 TI for this. However I also want to crunch AP tasks with the integrated GPU. What can I do? Is dummy plug the only way? I would prefer a software solution as I do not have time a resources to be bothered with hardware :/

But still, 100% is a 100% either using the GPU or not.

What I meant is that your GPU is 250W and the CPU is mere 84W. If you have issues with pumping the heat out of the box these 250W might mean that your CPU is throttling because of heat produced by the GPU. In any case this should be easy enough to test. Just disable GPU computing for a while and SETI should behave more or less like the stress test. Am I making any sense?

I am looking into replacing the cpu fan with an h100i, but first I will add a side fan and a bottom fan to my case, to see if it helps.

Do you crunch SETI on both CPU and GPU? If so then you have a 250W gap between the stress test (assuming it is CPU only) and the SETI crunching. You may have a problem with pumping the heat outside the box and not necessarily from the CPU to box. In any case, since you've already decided on adding new fans, I would only suggest you have awareness of what fan pulls air in, what pushes air out, and what is the airflow inside the box - it may mean miracles in terms of cooling.

pbako, I would advise you to consider energy costs. The new 750TI is so much more energy efficient that I would buy two 750TI(2*155$=310$) instead of a single 780(500$). The two Maxwells would not be much slower than the 780 but in a year's time you will have saved 150$ (not mentioning AC costs) that could be spend on the next latest GPU for crunching. Not to mention that they would probably depreciate much slower than the 780, which would help you unloading them on ebay.

You could also wait a month or too for bigger Maxwells to come out and buy a couple of 250$ cards.

To reiterate. Calculate the energy costs.

Easiest for me, I have 4 laptops crunching, is to use Lunatics installer and install GPU apps only. Additional work needed is to open the resulting app_info.xml file from ProgramData folder and replace all <count>1</count> with <count>0.5</count> in order to crunch two WU at a time.

You didn't say if you mean MB or AP. Anyway here is a machine with a bunch of intel GPU invalids. I haven't done any investigation as to why they happened. I just removed the offending app. I would still like to crunch on the gpu though...

EOAEvan, if your machine works 24/7 you could expect
more that 20000RAC but you would still need to be patient and wait for a month for it to climb up to the maximum and you are only several days in...
