Thanks for all the info!

For my linux boxes, looks like the following is what should be used:

For 32bit Feisty on AMD64X2:
system info:
>uname -a
>Linux Mint64x2 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Fri Aug 31 00:55:27 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

optimization files: 2.4_Linux32_kernel_2.6_AMD_SSE2

For 64bit CenOS on Pentium D dual core
>uname -a
>Linux 64CentOS 2.6.9-55.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Jun 26 14:14:47 EDT 2007
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

optimization files: 2.4L_Linux64_Intel_SSE3.tar.bz2
EDIT: OK, just re-read Astro's note, so I should use
2.4_Linux32_kernel_2.6_Intel_SSE3_FIXED instead?

It is running 5.27. I upgraded BOINC, it was an older version on the Windows boxes, and on the AMD64X2 installed the SSE3 optimization files. On the Core 2 Duo installed the SSSE3 files. On both I got the running on anoymous platform message.

Haven't done linux boxes yet.

So far, on the AMD, there is no change, but I switch between Rosetta, World Community Grid, and Seti. I guess the completion times will reflect changes once BOINC switches to Seti?

I had aborted the WUs on the Core 2 as I since I thought perhaps it was related to the MB work unit issue...and no new WUs have been downloaded, so I can't report on that box yet.

So this is normal then?

I have just noticed on all my computers, completion times have all jumped to 20 - 35 hours. Even on my dual core higher end systems.
EDIT: actually, Linux completion times are longer on comparable AMD 64X2 CPUs, approx 30hrs vs 12 hrs on WinXP

I'm a long time cruncher, and plan on continuing, just want to make sure I am crunching all I can! :)

Thx.

One other question if you don't mind....I've recently read a little about optimized apps, like chicken? Can you point me somewhere I can learn a little about these?? I run both Linux and Winblows.

I've recently noticed my Seti work unit completion times getting longer and longer....now they are 25+ hours!

Has something recently changed or happened that is causing this?
5) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Deferred communication: RPC schedulers not responding (Message 51266)

I have just tried to make the switch from the old Seti to BOINC. After installing it, I repeatedly get this response:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ - 2004-12-04 10:39:10 - Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed
and:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ - 2004-12-04 10:42:19 - No schedulers responded

I have XP SP2, and do have boinc_gui as an allowed Exception. I have also changed my preferences as in other posts to connect every 2 days and gone back to connect every .1 days...I still get the above deferred errors.

Is the RPC down or am I missing something?
