It was another frosty start to the weekend here, -4C (felt like -7C) with 15C expected), but it's still chilly outside at 1C (feels like -2C) with the sunshine only just starting to make a dent in the frost so I'll just thaw out now for a bit. Cheers. |

Not so sure about that... Far too dark and damp and lost in the mists over here... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Today has been wet, with dry spells in between Wet when I loaded my car, wet when I unloaded my car, wet when I loaded my car, wet when I unloaded my car. So glad I didn't put my washing out to dry or it would have been wetter than when it came out of the machine Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

All is dark and surprisingly quiet and the sky is clearing to reveal... An inky twilight. And from my radio link adventures from a while back: The new singular power supply has worked out far better than I imagined. BOTH the original power supplies must have fried their smoothing capacitors! So... Soldering surgery was done on three circuit boards. A power distribution board was done away with and replaced with some properly decent wiring. I found one unexpected source of heat that was a circuit board trace that was too thin for the current going though it! Soldering in all the wires whilst squinting through a x4 magnifier took a bit longer than first anticipated... Definitely a very careful dose of caffeine required...! Amazingly, each section tested out fine first time and that point-to-point link now enjoys the best SNR I've ever seen for it! The data throughput is now consistent and near to full spec. All despite a soggy wet building in the way... Next was to implement part 2 of the 'fix' by moving the radio magic bit to somewhere higher up for a clearer view... Then again, it's now working well enough where it is... So the planned move has been postponed until 'whenever' (if ever). All very good! And well worth the re-engineering. My excuse is that the fix has still been quicker than ordering new and then going through all the faff to install and configure. The only surprise is that I was expecting the power consumption to be reduced by now using the one PSU. Instead, the system is now taking a little more power. That might be excused by the data rate supported now being higher... Regardless, all good! Heck I'm just out to fix my bed and my car, 10 more points on bing and some parts can be ordered. The parts? Some 100pcs #10 1.25" wood screws, an hdmi cable, 80pcs dryer sheets, and a new EGR valve for my nearly 25yr old car. In the meantime I drilled and charged my drill a few times through 2 bed slats for an Ikea steel center beam support leg. In the background one can see a 48.4lb all steel box spring minus the cover, which if I put the cover on now might get clawed by 3 cats, I built this box spring myself, even though the instructions do recommend a 2nd person, the old metal & wood version weighs 49.2lbs. All drilling was done from my chair, including vacuuming all the wood shavings off of my jeans and the kitchen floor. The Ikea steel center beam is behind one of the slats and is held together w/a bolt, a flat washer, and a wingnut. Supervisor #1 Grace. Supervisor #2 Sylvester, and Supervisor #3 Chitty. I'm hoping one of these days I can get a contractor to fix my floors, replacing my bathroom vanity and sink is relativity easy... The old vanity or what is left of it from dry rot... I can buy the parts and a plumber can install it and a new toilet in my rear bathroom. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

It ain't warming up very quickly here today so I might go downstairs and give Robbie the Robot a bit of breakfast so that I can at least get prepared for today's bit of work on my latest project. It's now 4C (feels like 1C) outside and the frost is still thick on the ground. [edit] Well that's Robbie fed and the chill should soon be out of the air down there, time for another coffee. Cheers. |

We reached 14C (feels like 11C) here today, but seeing as the rain is falling in England I'm going to call it an end to my weekend. Cheers. |

Gaming under Linux is much fun. Playing Age of Empires 4 and Assetto Corsa Competizione on Steam. Valve did a great job here. Less than one hour on win the last 12 month. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |
