Holy crap! There's something fishy going on there.

Fewer than 120,000 people inhabit Kiribati yet they apparently hold $682m in Australian banks.

There are 33 islands in Kiribati, a small nation in the central Pacific Ocean. Only 20 of these are inhabited.

Yet data released by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and found that $682 million in Australian bank accounts belonged to foreign tax residents apparently from Kiribati, up from just $14 million in 2019.

Fewer than 120,000 people inhabit Kiribati and, according to Kiribati's 2019-2020 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES), the median household income was just $12,000 in 2020.

The nation's residents are also quite young: the median age of the population is 23 and 35 per cent of the population is under 15 years old.

But the 876 Australian bank accounts apparently held by Kiribati residents had an average balance of almost $800,000.

Kiribati is not the only remote area where people, companies or trusts that hold Australian bank accounts apparently reside.

Tuvalu, with a population of 11,792 in 2020, had 212 accounts registered to "residents" holding $194 million in Australia.

That is an average of more than $900,000 per account, when the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per person in Tuvalu is around $7,500 per person....

Now you really have to wonder where it all suddenly came from and whose is it.

Ah the "good old days" when school outfitters provided bog standard generic uniforms.
What differentiated them from each each other were the schools themselves.
They provided the badges/logos for self sewing. :-)

Despite new Government guidelines in the pipeline designed to curb costs, schools could continue to recommend apparel carrying their logos

Uneccessary expense for families

This I find very strange.
If Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) was required for jobs that I did when working, it was always provided by the companies that required it.

In the midst of this trajectory, he was booked as a guest on the most popular TV show at the time, The Ed Sullivan Show. But he wasn’t only there to perform his hits. Before the show started, and in front of the press and Ed Sullivan himself, Presley flashed his swoon-worthy smile, rolled up his sleeves and let a New York state official stick a needle loaded up with the polio vaccine in his arm.

At that point, the polio virus had been ravaging the American landscape for years, and approximately 60,000 children were infected annually. By 1955, hope famously arrived in the form of Jonas Salk’s vaccine. But despite the literally crippling effects of the virus and the promising results of the vaccination, many Americans simply weren’t getting vaccinated. In fact, when Presley appeared on the Sullivan show, immunization levels among American teens were at an abysmal 0.6 percent.

What did prove successful was Elvis getting the vaccine in front of millions. In fact, after he publicly did so, vaccination rates among American youth skyrocketed to 80 percent after just six months.

He also did his military service when he was drafted rather than using his celebrity status to opt out. Such character seems too-often lacking these days.
