Is Australia really ready to go toe to toe with China if the USA steps up to protect Taiwan?

China doubles down on four demands to repair Australia ties.

..The demands were as followed:

1. Australia must treat China as a “partner rather than a rival”.

2. The two countries must seek “common ground while shelving difference.

3. Australia must reject “manipulation by a third party” – which was a clear reference to the US.

4. Both countries must build “public support featuring positiveness and pragmatism”....
Good luck with that under China's latest changes in course.

It seems that we've upset Xi yet again.

China angered over new Australia and US military plan.

It's seems that he doesn't like it especially when you follow his lead.

Opposition leader, Voldemort, who was the defence minister at the time the deal was inked, is now talking rubbish on a deal that he had his sticky fingers all over.

Dutton warns against UK submarines for AUKUS, drawing fire from government.

Then British MP Simon Fell rejects Peter Dutton's claim that UK does not have capacity to build Australia's nuclear-powered submarines.

China should remember that they started the build up 1st, many years ago.

China has warned that Australia is “planting a time bomb” after a massive nuclear-powered submarine deal with the US and UK was revealed.

Australia offered a briefing to China before it made its $368bn AUKUS announcement, but whether or not Beijing took up the opportunity remains unknown.

Defence Minister Richard Marles said he wasn’t aware of China’s response; just a day after Beijing’s mouthpiece outlet, The Global Times, warned Australia was “planting a time bomb”.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, alongside British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and American President Joe Biden in San Diego announced the historic AUKUS deal on Tuesday, which will cost between $268b and $368b by the 2050s, with homemade nuclear submarines to be ready by 2042.

The program will feature at least three submarines to be purchased from the US, upgrades to extend the life of the existing fleet, with at least five UK-designed vessels with US-technology to be built in Adelaide by the 2040s.

Mr Marles said the program was the biggest leap in Australia’s capability in history, and was made against a backdrop of an increasingly complex strategic landscape, namely the rapid rise of China’s army.

But Chinese president Xi Jinping, speaking on the eve of the AUKUS announcement, warned Australia was making an “expensive mistake” and that Beijing would continue to grow its military to counter the perceived threat.....

They're still whining about an arms race that they actually started.

China has fired off another dire warning to Australia, amid growing tension over the nuclear submarine deal with the US and Britain.

China has fired off a frightening warning to Australia over its nuclear submarines deal with the US and the UK, declaring it may trigger an unpredictable global arms race.

The Chinese foreign ministry said on Thursday that once a Pandora’s box is opened, the “regional strategic balance will be disrupted and regional security will be seriously threatened”.

The United States, Australia and UK this month unveiled details of a plan to provide Australia with nuclear-powered attack submarines from the early 2030s to counter China’s ambitions in the Indo-Pacific.

“China firmly opposes the establishment of the so-called ‘trilateral security partnership’ between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia,” said Tan Kefei, a spokesman at the Chinese defence ministry, during a regular press briefing....

Now many questions must be asked. Are they so unreliable or is it a crewing problem? Just for starters.

It seems that the people arn't all that happy back at home with a number wanting to make a move down under.

A staggering number of foreign buyers have bought into Australia’s property market in recent months, but the reason why might surprise you.

I hope that a new house goes up for everyone that they buy, but some are not making the cut.

With 3 days to go which way will China move seeing that there'll be no more extensions.

Deadline looms for decision on $1.2b China barley trade, with Australia expecting China to lift tariffs.

Or it's back on in the WTO.
