It's the same on this side of the puddle. When I finished my formal education I had about $30k in student loans. I too had been fortunate to get some grants and scholarships. Today's students will have over $150K in debt from getting an advanced degree. Education here is like the medical system. Both are for profit. While we still have legitimate schools there are too many schools that exist only for profit. There are also schools that are so well endowed that they do not need tuition. Harvard is sitting on $36 Billion. Here is a list of the top 100 richest schools. Change is needed.

Many years ago in California you could get a degree on the State's dime. Liberal union man Ronald Reagan was governor. Something changed. Perhaps it was the privileged noticing that persons they felt should not have privilege of a degree were able to get degrees, in any case the state universities and colleges were de-funded and they had to charge tuition.

As I see it the banksters have created a highly educated and productive class of indentured servants. What's not to like?

We've gone from a 3C (felt like 0C) start here up to 8C (feels like 3C) now with 13C expected and this chilly wind should die down by noon.

Cheers.

Is that chance more of a chance of steam boiling off the ground?

Prop 16 changed the way government was funded in CA. State was forced to reduce funding to education as a result of the reduced funding. It did save millions of elders from losing homes to increasing property taxes but caused the imposition of other taxes at the cost of a system that had worked well.

Some complain taxes like on property are too high in California, when it's the value of said property that is too high, in 1970 a property in Culver City CA sold for $20,000.00, today you'd be lucky if that same property didn't have a price of $1 Million, this is driven by demand. All the taxes I've seen or heard of since 1978 have been approved by at least 67% of the registered voters or the initiative fails.

Teetering here on whether we drown under a monsoon deluge or whether the high humidity and murk burns off to reveal:

Pain in my left leg if the fan is on, yet no pain in the right leg, weird... I told that to my Doctors office and suddenly it's "are you sure you don't have covid?" Sigh...

I'm vaccinated and largely I stay home as I've done since 2004 and I only go out for supplies or to do something like go to the Doctor or to have work done on what is now a too small car, my legs get shoved together below the knees and that makes my legs hurt since both hips were dislocated in 2002 and both had no corrective surgery, just pills, it's cheaper.

I drove the car yesterday and this morning my legs hurt, before I drove yesterday my legs were not hurting, it seems to take a few days before I can get back to normal, whatever normal is...

Until then my legs are just throbbing.

Oh and I think I am losing some weight since getting in the car was a bit easier, an adjustable steering wheel upgrade that I plan on doing will help there, just not with my legs being squeezed like an orange.

It was 117F yesterday, currently the temp is 109F.

Well Zoom. Your legs. Are they getting chilled in the fan breeze?
Mine do and my upper half feels comfortable. So I usually use a light throw blanket to cover them when they get cold. Check your legs every so often and if they are getting cold try a light throw blanket to help regulate temperatures better.

Sounds good, though since it's just the left leg, a jackets vest will do instead.
