Unknown, 2 ocean going tugs are on the way there that can pull 400 tons each which are much bigger than the small ones there now, plus there is a crane on the way in case they need to unload 600 containers off of the bow end of the ship(the pointed end of the ship) out of 20,000 total containers. Rather than using puny little tugs... What of using the giant engines and formidable pull of one of the fellow giant container ships nearby idly queued up? See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

They're not built for that, this ship is about 224,000 tons, the ocean going tugs are better, the 400 tons seems to be in Bollard Tons/Pull, but I don't know much about that. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Using another big ship, while it sounds possible would be rather risky thing to do as even a slight error on behalf of the pulling ship and that too would end up stuck in the mud at the side of the canal due its draught. However the vast majority of ocean going tugs are, relatively speaking, shallow draughted so can work safely quite close to the canal bank. Wind? But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Merry Sunday |

That wind that loudly breaks. [cough, cough] Please somebody pass me the air freshener. Canal blockage. They have to worry about damaging the ship even further. There is reports of the ship taking on some water. If they try to hard to fast and worsen the problem…? |
