https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=3755716471 is probably the oldest WU still in the database.
It will finally time out in a few hours.
Created 23 November 2019.

And then it will be gone. The last host that has it has never returned a result and that will put the task count to 10 attempts and it will be retired.

The last host that has it has never returned a result and that will put the task count to 10 attempts and it will be retired.
But it's got a validated, canonical, result, so it's job is done. It would be retired anyway, whatever the task count.

I'm down to Valid (17) - that's a big drop since the last time I looked. I'll have a look through to see when they might expect to time out.

It's already Validated.
3 Valid results in April, the _5 https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=8703710336 is Canonical.

. . I still have 105 valids that should clear on the 23/24/25th so only a week left for me.

With the status page out of order this may be a symptom of the same malady. They've stopped (properly) updating the stats as the vast majority of work units have been completed, validated and the canonical result declared so what is happening now on that front is nothing more than window dressing.

I've been wondering, seeing that the need of the COLO's bandwidth isn't required now (nor the costs involved), if/when/or is the server kit being moved back up the hill into the lab.

Cheers.

I think that is likely. When the Replica Database went down, I think that may have been a symptom of the same process.

It would be nice to get some feedback from the project staff.

Eric has not even responded to recent questions in the SETI@home Facebook group, although he is still active on Facebook.

Eric's Hydrogen survey is still active. Nebula needs the bandwidth* as the Jobs are run on Einstein@home's supercomputer. I'm pretty sure the kit is staying put for the foreseeable future.

*It may even need Internet2 bandwidth.

I do have three strange WU:s

https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=3928607389
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=3928601011
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=3927339901

Deadline has been gone but they are still marked as "In progress", not timed out...

. . My guess is that they have disabled replications, so they are not timing out and not being resent. I have no idea how they will deal with such tasks.

Stephen
