Sun 26 Apr 2020 06:11:39 PM EST | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 1 new tasks

I hit the jackpot and get 1!!! LOL

It's runs for 6 seconds and done. :(

<edit> Definitely i'm lucky today, all CPU:
Sun 26 Apr 2020 06:44:08 PM EST | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 150 new tasks

The last one is crunching now, it's a CPU WU takes about 1 hr to finish.
The rest all all served & returned.

I'm down to 25 full pendings (plus 100-plus inconclusives). Every single one of them - with send dates from 29 Mar 2020 back to 29 Feb 2020 - has four unresponsive wingmates. It's few enough that I can leave the tabs open on a spare machine and come back in an hour or two, to see how they're coming along.

In progress (0) · Validation pending (42) · Validation inconclusive (171) · Valid (7345)

The oldest one 28 Jan 2020 and the newest 31 Mar 2020 all with 4 unresponsive wingmates.

So that proves the point, keep sending to random hosts will not solve fast the Science DB close. They need to send them to reliable hosts with fast return as i posted before. Or the WUs will soon reach the 10 task limits. The pendings are at 6 now, inconclusive even more.

I think that they can continue with the same easy pattern. Will some hit the 10 task limit and have problems?? yup. I think this number will be small enough that Eric can just write a script to send it to his own machine to be done quickly. Alot of the WUs left are ones that are garbage and need a third result to be valid. So I agree with you sort of... he will need to send it to a trusted machine at some point, but that machine can be his. Hopefully until try 9 or 10 he will continue to just roll the dice and give us all slow or fast a chance to do the WU.

Of the 25 I had pending five hours ago, 19 are still pending.

4 have been validated by the third and final resend, leaving three tasks in limbo.
1 was an overflow, which has been left open for another wingmate to complete (second resend returned after 5 days, no additional resend).
1 was validated by a bunkerer, who hung on to it for 28 days, and again by the first resend (7 days). Second and third resends wasted.

Is this host 8900461 still afloat? If not, then almost 7K tasks are on their ultimate dive to the deep sea.

Or is this such a 'bunkered host', which will still be synchronized by the owner? This host probably still has many WU, which have not been validated yet, like this one.

Is anonymous so we not know. What we could see is: Last contact 26 Apr 2020
So yes at least until yesterday it's alive. But we not know if is actively crunching or not.

But there are a list of similar anonymous hosts with even larger caches in the same status: Unknown.
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=8873167 is an example it has 20574 tasks.

Message 2047281 - Posted: 27 Apr 2020, 17:11:50 UTC - in response to Message 2047153.

current creation rate is .05/sec ... 1 WU every 20 seconds...3 WU per minute.
These would be resends from non-validated WUs . This only happens if there hasn't been a valid match and the normal timeout is happening.
180 resends/hour ... around 4000 resends / day.

Even with the increased timeout between requests there are around 400 requests/second. The odds are NOT in my favor, but still I hang out because change is hard :-).

Big assumptions, but let's go with it for a guess on how many still floating around.

31 days in May + 4 more in April.
35 days * 4000 resends = 140k left out there... let's round it up since some have timeouts in June... 150k unfinished.

The timeout resend rate is not steady... but it is between .01/sec and .02/sec so we can see that the last round of forced early resends yesterday had an effect.
.01/sec 1 every 100 seconds. 36/hour 864/day My odds of getting even one drop even lower :-)
I'll stick with 35 days as I didn't consider June. 35*900 = 31500... so I'll guess we have about 50k outstanding and not validated. I big drop from yesterday. That last resend really helped. Give it another day to give the slower machines to do any they got yesterday. and do a final forced resend tomorrow and shut it all down at the end of April and do any left in house would be my plan.

Just a thought... maybe they could have lowered the maximum per device to maybe 10/cpu and 10/gpu so they don't send anymore WUs to machines already busy with WUs either via slowness or bunkering.

I think it is probably around 7.5% of the "Results out in the field" that still need Validation, so possibly just over 100,000 at the moment.

My final Inconclusive was cleared a few hours ago, but then my Android machine got another task. :)

The first passengers feel uncomfortable. It's about time for the band to get on deck and perform "Nearer, My God, To Thee"...

22 hours on my Android tablet, but it's still producing useful results.

3 other re-sends in the last 10 days are still In Progress, 2 of them on GPU's !
