Today the C.S.I.R.O in Australia , the Worlds best Pactice Research Ornanisation . Has announce trails of 2 Vaccines ...

Is that not the same organization that the government drastically 'de-funded' into near oblivion to stop all research on Global Warming and Climate Change?...

Scientists really do need to be held in higher regard by the (science ignorant) politicians and bean counters...

Also, the strains in China and Iran are different.

I assume you have PROOF of this statement with sources cited??????
I don't see any.

The best I could find without wasting my time for you is an Icelandic study identifying 40 different mutations of the virus. (Because yes, a random mutation is obviously the most likely explanation for the difference in main strains between China and Iran.)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but 'Made In China' is engraved on every case of the WuHu Flu, whether made in a lab or a natural occurrence because some local Ozzie Osborn ate a bat.

Ah, now I get it. You're coming from a parallel universe where there's an influenza outbreak. See, in this universe, the outbreak isn't due to an influenza virus but a coronavirus. Therefore, anything you say about the coronavirus outbreak is irrelevant.
Gazing at the skies, hoping for contact... Unlikely, but it would be such a fantastic opportunity to learn.

Sadly there are those who do live in some weird alternative universes.

Anyhow, the world's total of cases has now passed the 1 million mark. :-O

Over 240,000 of those in the U.S., while Italy and Spain duke it out 2nd and 3rd places (115K vs 113K ATM), and Turkey is still breaking records as they rocket into the "Top 10".

Hang on. The corona virus IS an influenza virus and as old as we human beings. Most corona viruses are not so bad as this one. But SARS-CoV-2 is a new strain of corona virus that has not been previously identified in humans. So far it it's not seasonal and that's the only difference to an influenza. But many fear it will be seasonal.

<Trump ON>It will be fine. Today it's over a million tasks, tomorrow it will begin to disappear, and within a week, just like magic, the Chinese virus will be gone. Trust me, I know these things, my uncle was at MIT</Trump OFF>
But the Genius just said that to bring hope to the people (the American people) trying thinking positive...

Japanese deputy prime minister says WHO should be renamed China Health Organization
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/japanese-deputy-prime-minister-says-who-should-be-renamed-china-health-organization

.....seems at least one other leader has 'woke'.

Travel data of passengers arriving in the United States from China during the critical period in December, January and February, when the disease took hold in that country, shows a stunning 759,493 people entered the U.S.

Those travelers from China included more than 228,000 Americans returning home and hundreds of thousands of Chinese nationals arriving for business, academics, tourism or to visit family.

....343,402 arrived from Italy, 418,848 from Spain and about 1.9 million more came from Britain.

Combined with those from China, that's more than 3.4 million people from just four countries -- nearly half, about 1.5 million, Americans returning home. Travel from Italy and Spain wasn't shut down until March 13, with U.K. arrivals restricted a few days later.

Bottom line, had China AND it's wholly owned subsidiary WHO been truthful about the level of contagion and ease of spread, travel could have been shut down on January 14th when the WHO made is twitter pronouncement of 'no evidence of human to human infection'....

....China owns it and WHO is their willing accomplice.

I always consider the source, the Washington Examiner as a source is not even debatable.

The Washington Examiner is a well documented prevaricator.
I follow NPR, the BBC, NBC, ABC. and even Faux among others. Much of what that rag reports is not noted there.

Yep, with a 5+% mortality rate.
All I have seen over the past several months is "reaction" & "blame game" in motion.
The use of nuclear weapons at the end of WWII taught the world a harsh lesson, which many at the time took note of.
They created a civil defence structure which was supposed to be able to deal with many serious crisis's.
What happened?
Easy answer - the world became too profit centric.
Much too expensive to maintain that. Looking back now, hindsight maybe, but....
The US on Thursday said it saw a record 6.6 million new unemployment benefit claims.

...the global economy won't just suddenly return to normal as if nothing happened.
So it begs a question?
Which will prove to be more expensive?
An effective civil defence structure as in the past or
the current structure?

Yes, COVID-19 is just another very serious and deadly new flu (influenza) virus the human race has been subjected to over its history.
Like when Columbus came to America and later the conquistadors spread diseases of all kind, most of all to South America, but yes even deadly corona virus. That virus killed a lot of the people living there not having the immunity...

Automatically dismissing any NewsSource means existing in a shallow box of preexisting beliefs.

My life is too short to consider the National Enquirer as a news source.

So China started the globalisation trend?
China "forced" the world to dismantle every nations civil defence in the past?
A fixation on China & Europe will not "magically" vaccinate the world from the coronavirus.
Edited for spelling error.

They just very successfully jumped into the globalization of the world.

Perhaps we must rethink both globalization and China America.

Just one question, WHO actually started globalisation & WHY are you moaning about China successfully joining in?
How about answering the question on why America & most of the Western World stopped stockpiling for their civil defence?
Another question.
If still in place today, do you think the coronavirus would be that global or would it have been better contained?

Civil defense structure? What? War and pandemics and other crises never happen. It will never happen in our modern world. "Not on my watch" as many politicians says.

Yes, an example of my prevaricator news source is better than your prevaricator news source :-D

That is why I use many sources, but not The National Enquirer or The Washington Examiner among many others. OBTW I also use the Daily Kos but I carefully vet anything from them.

I'll answer that question........

......because of extreme pressure brought to bear by various far left groups to fund pet social programs to the detriment of actually preparing for an emergency. How many billions have been spent on so called climate change and to exactly WHAT lasting effect? Precisely None.

How many ventilators and PPE supplies would Bloombergs $600 million 'ad buy' in a fart in the skillet bid for the presidency, have bought? How many American lives could have been saved?

Where were the investigations into National preparedness, hell, WORLD preparedness? Where has the UN been, now they want to start a world COVID-19 response fund and are asking member states to donate....WHAT RESPONSE? The WHO not pressing for independent verification of the scope of the initial discovery certainly indicates at least malfeasance.

Yup, it WAS greed, greed on the part of those demanding a free ride through college, guaranteed income, universal healthcare, a chicken in every pot. And where do those freebies come from? They are paid for by not funding the real world proven needs such as depleted emergency medical supplies because we don't 'need them right now'.

Same old story, when it's not raining and there's a hole in your roof and you don't fix it because it's not raining doesn't mean it won't ever rain. We screwed up.......but so did the rest of the world.

By putting most of our eggs in the Beijing basket.
