It appears that this was the number of infections, rather than fatalities:

In 2018, researchers at Yale University found the epidemic could have been prevented if Pence and state officials had acted faster. The study received financial support from the federal government.

“Our findings suggest that with earlier action the actual number of infections recorded in Scott County — 215 — might have been brought down to fewer than 56, if the state had acted in 2013, or to fewer than 10 infections, if they had responded to the [hepatitis C] outbreak in 2010-2011,” the paper’s senior author, Forrest W. Crawford, said in a statement at the time. Instead they cut funding for the last HIV testing provider in the county.”

Instead, the president’s budget request this month for the fiscal year that begins in October would cut the C.D.C.’s budget by almost 16 percent, and the Department of Health and Human Services’s by almost 10 percent. The proposal’s $3 billion in cuts to global health programs included a 53 percent cut to the World Health Organization and a 75 percent cut to the Pan American Health Organization.

Five new cases of corona have been confirmed in Sweden, the Public Health Agency announces on Thursday evening. Three people have been infected after traveling abroad, two have been infected in Sweden.
But I wonder if one should worry so much since many more dies in a "normal" flu as well.

One of Iran's seven deputy prime ministers, Massoumeh Ebtekar, has been infected by the new corona virus, according to authorities.
Massoumeh Ebtekar is quarantined in her home and her co-workers are being tested for the virus, reports the state news agency Irna.
Iran's deputy health minister is also in quarantine and in a video he confirms that he has been infected by the corona virus.
In Iran, at least 26 people have died from the corona virus. It is the highest death toll outside China.

Back in mid Jan '20, I had a cold fo first time in 'bout 15 years. Lasted 2 weeks. da few Colds I've had over my lifetime have lasted 1 to 3 days. once 5. Sore throat with it was first in 'bout 35 years. Old age is a b'tch.

I live a 'bout 1/4 mile from major East/West Interstate and 5 miles from major North/South interstate. 'bout 3 miles from a International Airport, with two other internationals within 100 miles. Definately a 'metro' area.

Anyways Cold Over and where I Live dA Press has not reported any 'Virus' of dA China Type.

So, I suppose I has a Regular Cold. Heck, I'm Outdoors in All kinds of weather at least 2 -5 hours a day. Surprised so many years have gone by since Last One.

You're right... it is quite similar at first which is probably why so many cases have slipped through enabling it to become pandemic. However, colds of course don't as often then progress to pneumonia, and certainly not multiple organ failure.

BBC - Coronavirus: Latest patient was first to be infected in UK

The latest patient diagnosed with the coronavirus in England is the first to catch it in the UK.

It is unclear whether this was directly or indirectly from someone who recently returned from abroad, England's chief medical officer said.

The man is a resident of Surrey who had not been abroad recently himself.

It takes the total number of UK cases to 20 and comes after a British man in his 70s became the first UK citizen to die from the virus.

That man, who lived abroad, had been taken to hospital in Japan after catching coronavirus on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which was quarantined off the port of Yokohama earlier this month.
