As I recall I joined June 5, 1999, making it 20 years on that date. As everyone knows there have been big changes since then. I think it was 2005 before I joined other projects.

There use to be a SETI screen saver that had some nice graphs all going up and down with all sorts of different data and it would rotate with a star field in the background.
I really liked that...but I have not seen that for a long time.....there is no SETI screen saver anymore, and there has not been one for a long time.

The Seti Screen save is alive and displaying on my Windows 10 box running a standard Seti install.
If you use the Lunatics Distro under Windows, it's screensaver is disabled on the presumption that you want maximum crunching. You have to patch in the "default" version of the cpu executable to get the screen saver back.

I don't think the seti screen saver runs at all under Linux.

There's a few of us that have been around a while. Maybe the next 20 years will be the key to unlocking the mystery!

Looking at that data, how does one sign up for the "Asteroids" program? they appear to need some computing power lol

I just missed getting on board when the project first went live (to the public) on the 17th. But I will have been helping for 20 years as of the 20th of May, 2019. I had heard about it some time before and was looking forward to participating. Watching the graphics grow as the calculation progressed was fascinating. At least once I got a preliminary graph that was the very model of what a positive hit should look like. (If I were a conspiracy nut I would have been convinced that the contact had been suppressed <grin>.)

I enlisted in Science United following the advice by Dave Anderson and am getting a lot of Milkyway and Asteroids tasks I listed my interests as Astronomy, Physics and Chemistry but I am getting mostly astronomy tasks both, CPU and GPU. The Milkyway GPU tasts run easily on my GTX 1050 Ti, Windows 8.1, but the Asteroids tasks often take too long a time and I abort them.
