I once met both Carl Sagan and Arthur Clarke, they were very devoted to science.
As a result of meeting those two I had a better understanding of why SETI science needs to exist.
I run the project because the end result is worth the effort of discovery. I was already sold on the science before the project existed and I was more than willing to participate.
