Dame Vera Lynn has used her 103rd birthday to call on the British public to find "moments of joy" during these "hard times".
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-sussex-51981339
“All around the world, people are facing extremely difficult times. It is likely that we will all have to make hard decisions in the coming months," she said.
“I am reminded of World War Two, when our country faced the darkest of times and yet, despite our struggles, pulled together for the common good and we faced the common threat together as a country, and as a community of countries that joined as one right across the world.”

Any comments from our very few libertarian posters?
https://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/libertarians-debate-respond-coronavirus-pandemic-70099005
Libertarian principles of self-reliance and minimal government have been around for centuries. But they are being tested as never before in a time when much of the world, and many of their adherents, see a clear role for government restriction on basic liberties.

"Preventing the spread of infectious disease is within the legitimate functions of the minimal state, which most libertarians accept," says Michael Huemer, a professor of philosophy at the University of Colorado, in Boulder.

“The minimal state's functions include protecting people from physical threats posed by other people," Huemer says. "That includes not only behavior that definitely causes physical harm, but also behavior that creates an unreasonable risk of harm to others. Obviously, what is an unreasonable risk is a matter of judgment.”

Limited government and personal freedom have long held deep appeal among Americans, who in the name of libertarianism have embraced everything from the legalizing of drugs to the withdrawal of U.S. troops from abroad to the abolition of the Internal Revenue Service.

Notable influences on libertarians have included such political figures as the late Arizona Republican Barry Goldwater and the author Ayn Rand, whose novels “The Fountainhead” and “Atlas Shrugged” have been standard reading for libertarians even as she dismissed the movement as “hippies of the right.”

But Dan Moller, an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Maryland, is more open to government aid. “Bailouts and stimulus plans are controversial among libertarians both because they tend to be maladministered and for more principled reasons,” he says. “But there’s a case for them in extreme circumstances like these, when you face what is essentially a giant financial coordination problem.”

If keeping people apart is essential during a pandemic, libertarians disagree on how and when to enforce it. Jim Babka, the libertarian commentator and editor-at-large for the Advocates for Self-Government, believes in and practices “voluntary physical distancing.” But he objects to laws enforcing it, saying "it's impossible that a monolithic political response can be more resourceful than millions of people acting to protect their families and neighbors.”

Moller says that libertarians believe in individual freedom but not at the expense of others, citing a tax on pollution as a legitimate government action. He has a similar defense for preventing carriers of the virus from infecting others.

“What’s weird about a pandemic is that our everyday behavior suddenly puts others at risk — just showing up to work can have huge negative externalities,” Moller says. “So libertarians see restrictions on individual liberty in a pandemic as akin to restrictions on pollution.”

I do have one, "it's impossible that a monolithic political response can be more resourceful than millions of people acting to protect their families and neighbors" I believe this statement makes a seriously unfounded assumption, that individuals will act in a shared self interest. We now have a debate over climate change, the self interest is use fossil fuel, the shared interest is zero CO2 emissions. People act in their personal self interest, that being a core of libertarianism, acting in a shared self interest is a core of socialism. Government has to act as the balance.

Anybody who want to buy some oil?
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52350082
The price of US oil has turned negative for the first time in history.
That means oil producers are paying buyers to take the commodity off their hands over fears that storage capacity could run out in May.
Demand for oil has all but dried up as lockdowns across the world have kept people inside.
The price of a barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the benchmark for US oil, fell as low as minus $37.63 a barrel

Back in late '74 early '75 I gave Plasma 35 times fo 15 dolla a visit.

They took out a pint of blood. spun it, put it back in - man o live it felt cold - then took anotha pint
of red and spun and put it back in.

Min wage was 'bout $2.30 an hour, so I was gettin' a little extra dough, ya know.

dA 35th time I got to my Van afterwards and before I got in I unpressed dA gauze on my Wound, and dA Blood Exploded out of my arm and kept flowin'.

I decided then to stop givin'. Was leavin' da Area anyways to go to Motorcycle Fixin' School.

One time at da Plasma Place da Lady took two pints out of me at da Start and man o live I felt sicker than I ever had in my Life. Nursee gave me some cookies and juice and Normalcy came back.

Guess she was New and did not follow da pint spin refill pint spin refill. Or she wanted to get rid of dA customer quicker than usual. Don't know.

I still have One Scar of my right arm from doze days of Bleed. Inside of arm at elbow joint.

Being a rube is a mo fo

This has led to a huge contaminated blood scandal in the UK.

Patients required repeated blood transfusions, say because of hemophilia. But there wasn't enough donated blood in th UK. So supplies were bought from the American paid-for blood market. Neither the Americans nor the British tested the paid-for blood for infectious diseases (or heat-treated it to kill viruses), and many people developed, in particular, hepatitis and HIV. The British government brushed it under the carpet.

Well highlighted nearly 40 years ago when the late wife of Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky & Hutch) was infected that way while giving birth.

In the wake of the Corona crisis, some unexpected things happen. When the air becomes cleaner, the water becomes clearer and when the cities are silenced and emptied of people, the animals venture out on a visit.
