pencil and square paper

Is that something like a slide ruler? ;) just teasing, think I saw one of those in my brothers desk once.....

Edit...

Appreciate your efforts!!

Don't knock em until that's all you have to make the calculations.
I can still remember that 82/75 is conversion factor from meters to yards.

Petri you continue to amaze me with what you have done with the Cuda code optimizations.
zi3v was fast.
v97b2 came with ~40% increase in computing.
Now 33% more on top of that.
Just WOW!

Now seems this 0.98 Cuda10 app is probably 3-4x faster on Linux then SoG on Windows (maybe even more) with same GPUs.
And since it is written in Cuda-C, it should be IMO 95% portable between Linux and Windows. So I not really understand why it is so big deal to make similar app version for Windows also?
Wouldn't this greatly improve overall SETI project crunching power, since most of users use Windows and will continue in foreseeable future.
Wouldn't it be much more sensible to invest time in Windows app then investing time for further speedups of Linux special app?

All the work on developing the LINUX special application is being done by a volunteer in his spare time, and the work to make it more easily used is being done by another volunteer in his spare time.
We just need someone to do the same for Windows.

Not sure if it was in this thread or the High performance Linux clients at SETI thread but the latest All-in-One package by Tbar can be found at the usual location at Crunchers Anonymous http://www.arkayn.us/lunatics/BOINC.7z

The 0.98b1 apps are in the Seti projects directory.

Back to RTX 2080 topics....
I'm planning to buy a RTX 2080 (my 20th seti anniversary is soon ;). I'm very happy with my current 2 MSI GTX 1070 so I would like to get also the new one from MSI.

The MSI GTX 2080 Ventus seems to be a good choice....730 euros ! But you can find it at 680 euros with special discount.

There is two Ventus version v1 and v2. They only seems to differ from size :
v1 : 268x114x50 (955 g)
v2 : 255x127x42 (856 g)

So v2 is more compact but you can still found some marketplace where you can buy v1.

This card will run seti 24/24 so I expect good cooling.

Which ones is the best from your point of view ? Does anyone have such card ?
Is 50mm too large to allow air flow between two cards ?

My current card is a 1070 Armor : 279x140x37 and 1070 Gaming : 279x140x42.
Both running at 80 deg with no overclocking.

I'm a little bit afraid about smaller Ventus size or maybe cooling have been improved ? ;)

Thanks for your help

The V1 model is 8mm (3/8") wider so would not fit in the traditional two slot spacing like your MSI 1070 cards. Depends on your motherboards about slot spacing and how many cards you are installing.
