Never thought I'd see the breakup of Britain in my lifetime, it's now a
distinct
possibility
This is what the young think about it.
Politicians seem childish

The Scottish one is exactly what I predicted four and a half years ago. Not a good outcome, but entirely rational.

That was a good post. However, the Welsh vote was pretty similar to the national vote - leave 52.5%, remain 47.5%.
So much for democracy.
With all sides using the economy - good vs bad, shouldn't this have all been looked into BEFORE the referendum was provided?
Many have said they voted to enter the EEC.
Where was the explanations/referendums in 1992 & 2007?
The problem is that on 5/6/75 the UK held a referendum for continuing membership of the EEC. Unfortunately, the Treaty of Accession was signed in January 1972 by Ted Heath & it is that which has ended up morphing the EEC into the EU. :-(

You're not going to get the truth there. Just ask a Senior UK diplomat as she quits, saying she will not 'peddle half-truths' over Brexit.

She's not really bothered as she has a "nice" pension to look forward to. She will probably miss the perks, but just like Nickerless Clegg, someone will scoop her up for her Rolodex.

* 10 Downing Street.

* BJ Care of House Of Commons.

* Send it via the Queen. Via Her Majesty's Government.

Or via the ballot next week :)

Message 2022963 - Posted: 13 Dec 2019, 9:00:00 UTC

Three times in recent years my son and I visited the United Kingdom. We spent quite a bit of time there each visit, traveling through much of the country, from England to Wales, Scotland and Ireland. We fell in love with that beautiful country. It was truly great!

Now, after the 12-12-2019 election results of just a few hours ago, I feel like someone in mourning after loosing a good friend, for I fear the great United Kingdom has just been dealt its death blow. I fear that wonderful land will never be the same. My heart goes out to all the people, no matter the side they chose, for I see the agony they may endure in the coming years.

Well U.K. Labour didn't learn anything from Australia's Labour's loss and that's moving too far left of its base.

Ah, the birth of the individual fiefdoms of the formerly British islands.

Rather confusing really... I always thought Britain was only one island with some minor islands.
And Ireland is another island with some minor islands.
Anyway, here it's explained.
The British Isles is a geographical concept, almost never used in official contexts. Instead, completely different concepts or terms are used.
In British law, the term British Islands is used when dealing with matters that jointly concern the three state institutions in which citizens enjoy British citizenship and are subordinate to the British monarchy .
From an Irish point of view, the term British Isles is controversial because it is perceived as biased towards Ireland or as an indication that the Republic of Ireland would still to some extent be British. Therefore, in an official context, the Republic of Ireland instead uses terms such as "these islands", or Great Britain and Ireland.

Blue British Isles.
Green Ireland.
Red Great Britain.
Orange United Kingdom.

Can't see where the UK is doomed. What I can see is the Welsh & Scottish leaders going against the electorate. They still do not see what 23/6/16 & 12/12/19 has done.
The Scottish leader wants another Independence referendum. Why as on the 1st one Scotland voted to remain in the UK. She also stated that she wants Scotland to remain a part of the UK & the EU. Good luck with that.
The Welsh leader voted for remaining in the EU while his country voted 52.5% to leave.
BoJo & the Tories know that, so do the electorate. Ask Labour. :-)
Edit: You gotta love Andrew Neil. :-)

9. Andrew Neil issued a political burn to Theresa May
The BBC's Andrew Neil is known for his straight-talking interviews with politicians. And election night was no exception.
Speaking to the former Tory PM Theresa May, he pointed out when she called a general election in 2017 she lost her majority - yet Boris had gained a pretty big one.
So he had one question: "What has he done right that you did wrong?"

Ouch.
