Some thoughts. For some unknown reason people not from the Nordic countries call us Scandinavians. Now that is term that probably the roman Pliny the Elder coined about 2000 years ago. However we who live here doesn’t use the term Scandinavia. Only when speaking with foreigners:) And Scandinavia is not the same as the Nordic countries. Perhaps it's the same as those living in the Baltic states that doesn’t call them self Balts. Or those living in the Balkan states would call them self Balkans. But then those living in the US call them self Americans. Now I’m getting confused:) |

Now I'm even more confused. Aren't indigenous Americans called Indians? Some thoughts. And who came up with the idea to call a country "United States of America"? That would be like someone came up with something like the "European Union". Oh. some think there is a such country:) As for USA. Why is it not called "Yankeeland" or something? Didn't the Yankees win the war? Sweden was once divided in Svealand, Götaland and Gotland. Svealand won and after that Sweden became Svea Rike, Sverige. |

Only if you wish to use outdated derogatory terms. First Peoples is generally preferred. https://fnx.org/Include those living inside the USA who ancestors who were the first of many to migrate to the USA and now describe themselves as Native or Indigenous Americans. Perhaps Firster's :)Now I'm even more confused. Aren't indigenous Americans called Indians? |

Well the name Yankee stuck at very least here in Sweden and it's called Jänkare. American cars from the 50's and the 60's are called Jänkare here as well. A funny description is this:) To foreigners, a Yankee is an American. To Americans, a Yankee is a Northerner. To Northerners, a Yankee is an Easterner. To Easterners, a Yankee is a New Englander. To New Englanders, a Yankee is a Vermonter. And in Vermont, a Yankee is somebody who eats pie for breakfast. Somehow I'm now getting even more confused:) |

Well the name Yankee stuck at very least here in Sweden and it's called Jänkare. That looks like a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner, here's one in Blue and White. This one might be an export version. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

That looks like a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner, here's one in Blue and White.Actually both cars are in Sweden according to the licence plates. I don't know about export version. Who want's a car with a retractable roof mechanism – also known as "Hide-Away Hardtop" in Sweden:) But then again we got Cadillacs here as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe6UpGFlRGM |

It's not yet summer, much of the country still in drought, and there are more fires & damaged & destroyed houses & other property. This is going to be a really, really bad summer. Up to 20 homes and structures have been destroyed in the village of Rappville, south of Casino, as a bushfire emergency grips northern NSW. Grant Darwin NT |

Wonder if the men have been reading the SETI is down thread at the BOINC cafe? Whiskey Rebellion: Four Men Escape Federal Prison, Return With Alcohol Four prisoners in Beaumont, Texas reportedly escaped prison, but returned with whiskey and cell phones. According to prison security, this is not the first time they did such a thing either. |
