100% fans and temp is still 86c, guess I´ll take the 970 out and buy a hybrid when I can. |

Ouch, yeah a middle card pretty much has to be a blower fan or WC'd in some fashion. A lot of heat generated in one area. |

When I was running 3 X GTX470's I had them in a Coolermaster 690 case. I had 2 X 120mm fans running flat out mounted in the side door blowing directly onto the GPU's and CPU. Door mounted fans now seem to be out of fashion. Kevin |

Even a little crack helps. I put a small piece of EPDM foam at the top corner just above the fans between the top two cards. It helps open up the gap by another 1/8". And then turn up the fan to 100% when above 55° C. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

As another poster mentioned, having a fan blow air over the GPUs could easily knock another 5°-10°c off. My case is lying on it's side with the sides removed. Putting a 140mm fan resting on (what was) the bottom edge of the case & the CPU cooler dropped GPU temperatures by around 8°c, even with the GPU fans running slower as a result of reduced temperatures. It was with the sides off, but since the space between the cards is so little, maybe 1 millimeter, I doubt any fans could blow enough air to matter. |

The other option is move the drives up in the case, then put a fan in the front blowing air over the front of the cards towards the back. If you've got a spare 120mm fan lying around, plug it in and just hold it over the top of the cards, or in front of them (if there is room) & see what effect it has. Grant Darwin NT |

That Coolermaster has 5 x 120mm blowing in (door 2, bottom 2, front 1) 3 x 120mm blowing out (top 2, back 1) There was positive pressure inside the case which caused an increase in ventilation out via the backs of the graphics cards. I have all my case sides on. Have to to keep inquisitive kitty noses out of the works . . . . along with the everpresent hair floating around. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

The new Thermaltake Core X9 case is huge. That allowed me to mount a 120mm fan onto the top of the front drive cage blowing over the front of the motherboard. Primarily to cool the PCH heatsink but it also hits the front of the graphics cards blower fans which helps of course. Even the slight increase in the slight 1/16" gap between the backplate of the middle card and the top card blower fan input in the gpu sandwich helps which is why the foam spacer is in place in two systems. Any additional fan blowing air towards the card fan inputs helps. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

When I was running 3 X GTX470's I had them in a Coolermaster 690 case. I drilled into my Door and mounted a 200mm back in the day. I also bought thing thing from chain that basically put a wedge between the GPUs to allow for better air flow. I used to have pics of all of these but photobucket went and made me pay for my own photos..but I digress |

I'm going to get a eVGA hybrid card replacing the 970 which I´m going to use in another PC anyway. Problem is I can't find any shop in DK with the card in stock. Is thinking of getting it from US/Newegg, the price seems to be around the same as in DK with the Danish tax included. But not sure if I should wait until I can get it from DK. |

Have you tried using EVGA's where to buy resource yet? Where to buy? Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Have you tried using EVGA's where to buy resource yet? I do see 2 shops from DK which I have checked before, but one of them doesn't have the card anymore, the other one can´t say when it will be in stock. Seems Newegg would be the best bet, I checked import rules and there shouldn't be any surprise fees... |
