"You Can't Handle the Truth!"Quite true. I've never come across such a wastrel before :-) Maybe if the US cuts back on its wastefulness, its economy might improve 10 fold. |

And now India... https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/india-counters-trump-tariffs-to-hike-duty-on-us-bikes-almonds-apples/articleshow/64617963.cms?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=TOIDesktop India has proposed to raise import duty on 30 products, ranging from motorcycles and certain iron and steel goods to boric acid and lentils. The customs duty on some of the items may be raised up to 50 per cent, in a signal that New Delhi will hit back at America's protectionist policies that range from a tighter visa regime to higher import duties. |

Please read the entire article, especially regarding his Germany, before any comments. But Jochen Bittner speaks only about Germany, not the EU as a whole. There are lot of critics in the rest of EU how Germany like to take the role controlling trade and economy. The EU order is also unbalanced and inequitable. And no mention of Russia's activities in Europe, which Trump only encourages. |

Just for conformation. BBC - EU tariffs on US goods come into force |

Simple fact. A trade war is a no-win situation, also called a “lose-lose situationâ€,Just for conformation. BBC - EU tariffs on US goods come into forceIs accepting Trump's Trade War, with both sides possibly increasing future Tariffs. A correct and a positive step for the EU's economies? The only one who doesn't understand this is Trump the Genius from Karlstad. Sigh... He always thinks trade is a zero-sum game. No it isn't . |

Just for conformation. BBC - EU tariffs on US goods come into force So you are saying that all other countries, which includes those that until now have been close allies, should accept Trumps tariffs, which he has still put in place after some talks. Which will cause severe damage to their manufacturing firms and trade balance. Never going to happen, what would the U.S. response be if it was the other way round? Plus it is even worse because he doesn't know how to read a balance sheet (he only reads the Trade figure), he even puts tariffs on countries where the U.S. has a "Trade and Services" surplus, as in the U.K. and Canada. It would also seem that he hasn't taken into account the damage to the U.S.'s manufacturing companies, because the types of steel and aluminium required are either not available or not available in sufficient quantities. Some estimates say 250,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs are at risk. |

Just that your Leaders [sic] lowering themselves to Trump's verbal level shows that they, as Trump, are the same.It has nothing to do with lowering ourselves to Trump's verbal level. We, that is EU, now also Russia together with China, India and perhaps some more, want to compensate for losses in trade. Remember WTO? Trump does, but instead of negotiating with the EU, he would rather negotiate with each 28 member state one by one. Sorry Trump. You can't always get want you want! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XuSp1uptVw |

More like at least double that again (if not triple that). Some estimates say 250,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs are at risk. The intentional ignorance knows no bounds. I posted a link a link a couple of weeks ago which stated that U.S. refrigerators/freezers/washing machines had jumped 37% in price due to Trump's taxes and that increase is soon to be expected to hit the new car market over there according to those who know much better than us. So get in quickly and get your new car before the price skyrockets, just like a lot of other things will. Meanwhile other countries will free trade around the U.S. which will send an already increasing inflation rate through the roof (I hope that the U.S. economy is strong enough to endure the idiot's policies). ....Sorry, the "Old Order" is, for good or bad, coming to an end. All 'agreements' are temporary and have always been dissolved when one or more of the participants believe it is not in their best interest(s).The thing is that you and Trump don't understand anything at all. The Russians have affected your elections and help promote most of your far right brainless idiots while still doing well as a country even under current sanctions. The Chinese that you've said for years will collapse keeps growing at a pace that out strips your growth by at least 3:1 (possibly 4:1), but you do have something right, the U.S. era is now over and has been prematurely terminated by that clown that you elected as lord high and mighty Hitler 2.0 (it was going to end anyway) and your inability to change with the times (the later will be remembered as your major downfall, Trump just helped to accelerate it). Enjoy your future irrelevance and possible bleak outlook on your country's current course. |

“The Europeans and members of the broader Western community can and must hold firm against Mr. Trump’s bullying.†says New York Times editorial today. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/21/opinion/europe-trump-bullying.html The European Union, Canada and Asian countries are already responding to Mr. Trump’s protectionism with separate multilateral trade deals, and they should do what they can to impress on American industry the huge cost of a full-blown trade war. |

You that secure in your income that the increased costs won't affect you? Will you still be calling them "idiots" when you are forced into revising your budget & living standards? |

So not only a history professor but an economics one as well? So are you saying that increased tariffs will NOT reflect in higher prices? You that secure in your income that the increased costs won't affect you? Will you still be calling them "idiots" when you are forced into revising your budget & living standards? |

NO company will absorb higher tariffs without passing down those costs to their customers. Whatever you or I think. All I can see from the B/S you post is that you would have made a 1st class con-man, the ducking & diving you do is fascinating :-) |

Meaning that you agree with me :-DWHAT planet are you on? Forgot you also stated this? If you believe that higher prices will be the driving force of peoples opinions. You may be incorrect. The magic word you used in your post was "Expectations" Expecting something & actually receiving it is 2 separate issues. It may have escaped your notice but in many places living costs are rising & wages are not keeping up with said costs. THAT FACT alone gives cause for many to revise their budgets. However, for many such as yourself who believe that they live in a perpetual "Land of Milk & Honey" it is just a waste of time & space to argue with :-) |
