We will have to agree to disagree about this particular problem.Of course:) There are not many Americans who know anything about European countries and their relations to other countries. For a starter most Americans think that the EU is a country:) |

There are not many Americans who know anything about European countries and their relations to other countries.Let's see........central Government authority in Brussels. ..............A shared currency among members. ............Trade agreements negotiated with other countries as a block. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck........... As to the difference between your outlook on the world economy and The People of the US is summed up by your previous statement. We however know that we never will get those jobs back. We, however, believe we can or replace them with other better jobs if the playing field is level. False Belief..........The Trump administration doesn't consider Canada or Japan or Mexico or the EU for that matter as threats to national security as has been widely spread by Fake News. The threat to national security is the loss of the ability to produce or source EVERYTHING DOMESTICALLY that would be needed in a time of crisis be it war or natural disaster. Relying on artificially cheap foreign steel and aluminum has caused the domestic steel and aluminum industries to atrophy. Most don't realize that starting a modern foundry furnace alone can take up to 4 months or longer not to mention assembling and retraining the workforce and gathering the support technology. By labeling the reason national security Trump was allowed under the law to investigate 'dumping' and other unfair practices and institute tariffs countering those in effect crippling American trade with those countries. Don't tax us, we won't tax you. Really simple. I thought Trump's tweeted example today was very well put. I had no idea there was a 270% tariff on unfiltered Milk from America going to Canada. How is that Fair Trade? "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

I had no idea there was a 270% tariff on unfiltered Milk from America going to Canada. How is that Fair Trade? Eggs, poultry and dairy are notorious in Canada for their "marketing boards" that have been price-fixing and lobbying for very high tariffs since, well, longer than I can remember. Since the 1950s at least. I stopped buying milk because of the ridiculous pricing (just buy powdered and make a little as required.) A 1L carton costs $2.99, but 2L $3.99, and 4L in bags $5.29? They are basically forcing overbuying so they don't have an oversupply which might force the price down. One of many controls they have on the market. |

Canada First? Yep Canada is a threat to our national security, after all the white house was burned down during the war of 1812. |

Because US dairy farmers are so heavily subsidised, 73% of their income is from subsidies. If you want a level playing field get rid of your agricultural subsidises. (That also applies to the EU CAP, just to show I am not just anti-US policy) |

Way overblown rhetoric.......... And I thought you were a Trump supporter. Doesn't he want to restore the old US industries like coal mining etc. and not invest in the STEM subjects so that the US can again lead the world in new technologies and the associated jobs. |

Way overblown rhetoric.......... That is absolutely correct. Rump doesn't believe in science, especially climate science, or NASA science. Everything we need to know is written in the good book. 1940 here we come when the KKK ruled the land and life was easy because you didn't have to think for yourself. |

central Government authority in Brussels? There are not many Americans who know anything about European countries and their relations to other countries.Let's see........central Government authority in Brussels. Yes. And 28 Governments in each member state. There are also disagreements between EU and member states that sometimes doesn't follow EU directives. A shared currency among members? I have not even seen an Euro or a Cent:) Only Swedish Krona:) The eurozone, officially called the euro area,[7] is a monetary union of 19 of the 28 European Union (EU) member states which have adopted the euro (€) as their common currency and sole legal tender. Trade agreements negotiated with other countries as a block? Of course. The EU is above all a Trade Union. That and food and health issues and free movement which are governed by the EU Parlaiment. Taxes, medical care, schools, military, police, pensions and child support are however governed by each of the 28 member states. EU explained. https://eu.riksdagen.se/global/other-languages/english/# Sweden's central government budget is approx. SEK 900 billion. Sweden's contribution to the EU is approx. SEK 30-40 billion of the central government budget. Sweden gets back approx. SEK 10-13 billion in the form of various kinds of support from the EU. |

and not invest in the STEM subjects so that the US can again lead the world in new technologies and the associated jobs.I don't know who 'poured' that in you ear..........where EXACTLY has the Trump administration 'not invested' in STEM. Hot Air, deflection and Fake News as usual. @moomim The US has 50 State Governments, who disagree from time to time, share a common currency(currently the accepted form of currency for world trade), and every other point you listed are the same. So why shouldn't the EU be considered a 'country'? There is no fundamental difference between the two examples. .................Except the EU cannot protect itself from aggression and relies on NATO(US) for defense. Now THAT'S a fundamental difference. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

@moomim The US has 50 State Governments, who disagree from time to time, share a common currency(currently the accepted form of currency for world trade), and every other point you listed are the same. The US doesn't have 50 presidents, you have only one. The EU countries (plural) has 28 presidents/prime ministers. The EU is mostly a trade union and NOT a federal state. The 50 US states are all members of NATO. 22 of the EU member states are members of NATO. 6 of them are not. Like Sweden and Finland. The US has only one offical language. The official languages of the EU include 24 languages with recognized status within the European Union. These languages are Bulgarian, Danish, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Greek, Irish, Italian, Croatian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Czech, German and Hungarian. The multilingualism of the Union costs just over one billion euros a year, which accounts for around 1 percent of all expenditure in the annual budget. The US has only one currency. The EU has 10 different currencies. Euro in 18 countries (EUR) Bulgarian lev (BGN) Danish krona (DKK) Croatian kuna (HRK) Polish złoty (PLN) Romanian leu (RON) Brittish pund (GBP) Swedish krona (SEK) Czech koruna (CZK) Hungarian forint  (HUF) The US have only one Head of State. In the EU some of the 28 countries Head of States are monarchs, some are presidents. Then Europe also have the Schengen Area... https://ec.europa.eu/home-affairs/what-we-do/policies/borders-and-visas/schengen_en Do you still think that the EU is a country? |

Does one have to look further that the EPA. Or conditions on funding that are opposed by the various bodies. NASA being one, Trump will allocate funding for manned missions to the moon and Mars, which NASA doesn't consider necessary at this stage, but not for missions already in operation or being built. |

I stand corrected:)The US has only one offical language. Only 31 US states have made English the official language. https://www.babbel.com/en/magazine/what-is-the-united-states-official-language Anyway all people in the US understand English that is de facto an official language. In the EU it's very different. There is no common langauge. I have met many from Germany and France that doesn't know English at all for instance. Very strange because most of the other EU countries does. |

Donald Trump held a press conference at the G7 -- here are the 38 wildest things he said. He's certainly the world's biggest fruit loop. |
