Couldn't say if it is better or not. My iPad handled your pictures just fine when you first posted them.

The reduced resolution is visible on my monitor and it's only 1080p.

For those that struggle with complex (and often slow) photo resizing here's a free one that actually works, doing exactly as it says on the tin:
https://bluefive.pairsite.com/pixresizer.htm
I am a "satisfied user", and have been for a number of years - dead simple, select the pictures, select where you want to put them, say how large you want them to be (1024 as the largest dimension is adequate for most use) and hit "save". There are a few options, such as target file type and quality (I normally max the quality), but that's about it.

I'm sorry for causing some problems, here. I just wasn't thinking about the fact the files were so big. They all load fine and look ok to me on a normal screen, but I realize now that speed of connection is a real factor. (How quickly we get spoiled by DSL)

I just now went back to the website I store them on(imgur), and sized down my last two batches. It maybe might take a bit for them to update and change here in the thread; I don't know.

p.s. I just cleared my browser cache and refreshed SETI, and the pictures are downsized, now, for me.

Imgur gives one options on size:

Worked for me on the captions thread.

I discovered Imgur also has an auto resize feature:

You can also manually change the pixel dimensions:

Windows 10 also gives this editing option for saving a picture:

I reduced the file size. My program gives me pixel and percentage options. I didn't see any actual measurement option. Is this better?

No, still very big. It's still 16" wide by 24" high.

I see you use Imgur. Don't they give you editing tools?

Edit: After reading all the comments I see that you've found imgur's editing tools and others have given you advice. So I won't.

Gordon,

Here is your pic resized to 10" high (72dpi).

Waterfox 56.2.3 I think does this resizing automatically, so far I have not had any picture getting big enough to make scrolling to the right work here.
And I don't have a 50" 4K monitor, more like a 21.5" 1920*1080 DP monitor.

I believe the message board software resizes any very large picture so it fits in the window horizontally. But vertically one still would have to scroll if the photo is as large as Gordon's.

My elephant ear plant has produced a flower. I didn't even know they grew flowers! :-O (This is the first year I've grown them.)

It is too bad something as fine as that doesn't produce human food.

Ok, I went back and resized my verticals again. After clearing the browser cache, the pictures should now fit without scrolling.

Makes me think of the old saying "Red at night, sailor's delight. Red in the morning, sailor's warning."

Those are beautiful pictures, Bernie. Capturing the double decker bus going by adds to it.

Even the Bible, Matthew 16:2-3 :)
He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ ".
It's called Morning Blush here and is actually a good sign of bad weather coming in.
