How did the lemonade you made with your little one turn out?

Excellent! I shared some of them with my older daughter, and she loved them. My younger daughter, well of course her first idea when she saw them was to do a 'lemon challenge', so I quartered one of them for her, and told her if she actually wanted to 'waste' one of those lovelies, the she had better eat it! Well, you know of course she said yes, so I said okkaayyy... Although I did maybe sort of mention that they are a lemon/orange hybrid, and she might have misunderstood exactly what technically hybrid is... *bwhahaha!*

You should have see the look on her face when she took a big ol bite out of it. I was laughing so hard that I couldn't hold her to her agreement, it was so worthwhile. hehe I know, I know, whatta Bad Dad. But, in my defense, I did say, are you sure, I know you like lemonade, but these are Real lemons, and of course it was all Yeah, I know, it's FINE, Dad, let's GO.

I also harvested seeds out of most of them, and as my current lemon tree had passed to the great beyond this winter, I am going to do a little research and see the best way to try and to get one them there seeds of yours to grow, and if all goes well, replace it. Here's hoping, at least!

The first time I heard the word Marsupial was on Capt. Kangaroo. Mr. Green Jeans used to bring an animal on the show.

Oh we had them back home but I can't recall ever seeing any in 45 years.

You may, or may not, remember a few months back I posted a few pictures of the "artistic graffiti" that adorns several shops and building in my home town

The idea of trying to get the local graffiti artists to be more creative came from the owner of a local art gallery.

His gallery had this on the shutters.



Well over the last couple of day it has been repainted.

It now sports this.



Quite striking I think you will agree.

I like big murals, but I don't know how the artists paint them so well. It seems like the large scale would be hard to work with.

This is on the side of an old crumbling house/shop.



Not sure if it is someone famous, I have looked online but cannot find any definite info.

Now trying to get a good picture of this has proved difficult, due to the height it is hard to get a good angle.



The reason for such a long shot is to show that it is Winston Churchill.

What might not be obvious is it created using one of his most famous wartime speeches.

"We shall fight them on the beaches"

Well I have decided to have a bit of a break away from Croydon, about 250 miles away in fact.

After 2 hours on a Virgin East coast train, then another hour and a half on a "local" service I arrived.

This is the view "out the back"



And a bit further down the footpath to the village.



And this is home for the next 4 days.



Kirkby Stephen railway station in Cumbria. It is part of the Settle and Carlisle trust and while the station is still a working one, there is just a waiting room in the centre.

The rest has been made into two holiday "cottages". My front door is just to the left of the long red bench at this end. The tall windows are my living room windows that look out onto the platform. Some may remember I stayed here before several years ago, but all the linked picture were on P-bucket, so I will take and post some new ones.

Since I was here last they have installed a "train cam" so of all the train cams I watch this is the first I have actually appeared on.



Internet here is a bit slower than I am used to so took a while to upload those.

I will post a few more during the week.

Tomorrow I plan to revisit Settle.

I've passed through that station a few times - on my bucket list of places to stay.

I was on the 12:49 from Leeds, arriving Kirkby Stephen 14:32

Yes still snow, as you are probably aware, the woman who showed me in said that the weather has been awful till about last Thursday.

It was actually very pleasant when I walked down into the village.

You'll have passed me about 13:08 - if I was there (I don't keep perfect timing on may canal walks - though I was passed by the 13:51 bus on my way back up the hill).

Yes, Thursday was the first decent walking day for a while, and Friday - though it was damp and clammy on my way back from the jam session in the pub just now.

I have flied over Cumbria.
It's not often you can see the ground below when flying but this time I could.
At very least the Lake District.
One of those moments you wished you had a camera with you to take a pic of the great scenary.

You probably passed me as well. I went to Skipton market at about 13:00 till 14:30ish.

So my second day in the "Cumbrian Hills" did not go to plan. Firstly from sun on Monday it had turned to cold grey and rainy.

I had decided to go to Settle on the 9:48 Northern Rail service however when the 5:29 Leeds to Carlisle service had "traction problems" at Skipton and was cancelled I was not immediately aware what that meant. Because the service here uses only a couple of units, I suddenly realised that this train formed the 9:48 from Kirkby Stephen to Settle and when checking online saw that indeed it had been cancelled. This of course meant that the next train going anywhere would be the 10:34 to Carlisle.

So I decided I would go to Carlisle instead.

It was even colder and wetter in Carlisle than it had been in December 2014. I only took a couple of pictures. This is the Carlisle Castle.



I am not a fan of "grey skies".

By the time I had walked round the town to the cathedral I was about to call it a day.



One day I will have to visit Carlisle in the summer!!

I found somewhere to have lunch and warm up and the rest of my pictures will be in the train thread.
