I see it as an outside chance, but a chance none the less...and one I can participate in.
I run SETI@home because it allows me to participate in something I see as important for me.
My views on the SETI programme are.....why not? Thankfully I was born into the age of the global internet and instant communications. This is perfect timing. A match made in heaven.
Lets enjoy the search because it is all part of the wonder of the Universe. When we have definitive proof we are no longer alone, then our wonder will be diminished, ever so slightly.
