During last year's frantic hunt for tyres I used the internet and phone to see who had stock of the size I was looking for (with three punctures I needed them NOW). I was amased at the way different places quote prices, some would include balancing, others it would added on, some included tax, others CBA to work it out on the phone (or even on their website), all but one place said "middle of next week at the earliest". In the end a small independent had the right tyres in and quoted a sensible all-in price. A price which was less than some quoted for the tyres without fitting, valves, balancing or tax... It certainly pays to shop around!

If Vic want's to buy shoddy stuff or look at houses worth 200k + or buy a TV most of us don't even use now a days..Let him Dream.
That is all it is.

Given it is some weeks before you will be able to afford a new main board for that broken TV there is a fair chance that many will have come and gone between now and then, so why not let the stress of following them rest until you actually have the money - you know more of less what it's going to cost, and false hopes of a "cheap" one won't do you any good. I seem to recall that the last one was "going to be the cure", and it was the wrong one, then there was the internal IR (remote) lead, and wasn't there a PSU some time ago.... That TV has been a real money pit, and there is no guarantee that the mother board will be the cure, even if you get the right one from Samsung... However I do understand your desire to get the thing working, but just now you don't have either the money, or the diagnostic skills to do so.

Sure go ahead, I don't care what you do.

And for the nay sayers, I don't care about your opinions, don't like what I do?

Tough, what are ya gonna do about it?

I'll tell ya, NOTHING... Since there is nothing you can do.

Im just going to sit back and read about all the money you spend on a worthless TV. Its been quite entertainimg so far. You brag how you are going to fix it. Spending money you cant afford. Then whine you dont have any money to visit the relatives for Christmas.
I cant waite for the next chapter .

Does the TV actually work today? If not then it is "broken", in that it needs something doing to get it working. You think that "something" is a new main board. You've previously bought an incorrect main board based on poor advise from a sellar and a website (not the manufacturer). So why not contact the manufacturer to find the correct part number - it is in their interest to provide that info and not have people rant about poor product support. Many manufacturers actually publish the main parts list so the right parts can be ordered. Then of course you have the origional main board in which case you should be able to read the number off that?
As I said some months ago check with the manufacturer for compatibility before you spend another cent.

Sorry Vic I'd missed that. For your sake I do hope that you are able to get a working correct main board and installing it makes the TV work.
Well it remains "broken" because it currently doesn'function correctly when you connect it to the mains and appropriate signal source.

I found another source for a main board, more than ebay, but far less than Samsung, with FREE shipping.

And yes I'll post some pics, plus I usually get something for Xmas from My relatives, yes I do know what it is, but you do not.

And yes thanks to some local friends and My car, I now have 1/2 a tank of gas, and I will get some help from My relatives if I need it to get home.

Since the TV is not broken, and I was sold 2 incompatible mainboards for the TV,
cause the seller thought wrongly that a 46" mainboard would work in a 55" TV,
well Samsung afterwards said they do not.

But then you don't know what you are talking about...

Since the TV is still broken after many months. I do believe you don't know what your talking about.
I cant wait untill the next installment of othis saga.

Will pictures make you two happy?

When I'm ready I'll be happy to oblige.

Crow...

You admitted you didn't know what you are talking about when you said, you couldn't understand why boards that look the same will not work in your TV.

Of course you could do something really stupid with the money and pay down a credit card, then you would have the problem of what to do with the extra money every month that you wouldn't be paying in interest.

Will listen for once. Give it up, you do not have the knowledge or the skills to diagnose the problem.

If the LED strips have failed, and if you had the knowledge they could be tested independently, then the reason they have failed is because they have been powered incorrectly because of a fault somewhere else.
Replacing them without diagnosing and repairing the initial fault will only lead to you destroying the replacements.

I love reading the saga of the TV. In my neck of the woods, Its called the random replacement of parts. Its like roulette, You might get lucky and get the right part soon before you could have just bought a new TV.
Keep the saga going though, Very entertaining.
