All I am going to say it that if one's breathing is impaired, having to support a lot of extra body mass is certainly going to make the situation worse.
People don't generally go into a faint from a sneezing or coughing attack.

Meow.

I've come close to blacking out from sneezing a few times. Everything goes really funny for a few seconds with ears ringing and a feeling of zoobing in and out of my head and occasionally my vision goes for a second. It happened while riding my bike once and was way more disconcerting than the sneeeze spray on the petrol tank, :-)

Getting dizzy is one thing. Fainting dead away and waking to find yourself trying to pick yourself up off the floor is something different. Either a lack of oxygen or blood pressure dropping way too low, usually.

I am quite sure that Vic knows what the score is, he is intelligent enough, he lives with it every day. He knows that at some point in the future the game will be up, and that he'll end up in hospital or a care home. Meanwhile he's playing both ends against the middle to put it off as long as possible. I worry more about Grace.

I am NOT trying to be insulting, but the single best thing that Vic could do for himself and his health would be to achieve some very serious weight loss.
He would improve his quality of life on so many fronts.
And believe me, I do know that changing habits to improve one's life does not come easily.

A hiatal hernia is the root of My problems, and is not something I can do anything about.

Vic. You are in denial. That is not the root of most of your problems. And I am not going to post anything further.
I wish you and Grace the best.

I think that's where the old saying, "God bless you", comes from because you're dead for a brief instant during a sneeze.

Vic, stop insulting everyone who tries to help you.
The hernia for all your ills. Let's see, did it break your leg? Did it give you asthma? Did it damage your shoulder? Did it give you the recent cold? Did it give you elevated blood pressure? I could carry on through your multitude of health problems and in just about every case the answer is categorically "NO".
I'm about an inch shorter than you, at leazt five years older, have controlled elevated blood pressure, one functioing kidney, a wrecked knee, a chipped vertribra in my neck, and the list goes on. Some of those can be very painful sometimes, others just nag all the time. I don't pop pain killers every day, I manage to walk miles every day which helps to keep my weight down to below 200 pounds, but I like my food too much....
So you are not the only one with health problems around here, many of us take care not to make them worse.

Wrong, A hiatal hernia is not the root of all your problems.
I was diagnosed with one in 1980. The Dr. Told me that most people that have one are born with it. And a lot of folks never know they have one.
Your health problems are not related to a hiatal hernia. Its being obese, having arthritis , and the other maladies you have.

@ Chris- having a hiatal hernia does not exclude you from military service. After I was discharged from the USAF in 1980. I wnated to joun the Army Reserve in 81. I had to get copies of my x-rays on my hiatal hernia .
Unless it is an extreme hernia you are able to enlist. I was able to enlist in the Army reserve.
So having a haital hernia is not and end all to much of anything you want to do. Its other health problems that come into play.

NO it does not do that. You have other issues then.

The following are risk factors that can result in a hiatus hernia.
Increased pressure within the abdomen caused by:
Heavy lifting or bending over
Frequent or hard coughing
Hard sneezing
Violent vomiting
Straining
Stress

But hiatus hernia doesn't by itself cause those problems.

For anyone that wants to see Vic's TV pictures, he also posts them a second time in his other thread computer builds over in Number crunching.

There are community members who tend to read and post primarily in NC and there are community members who tend to read and post primarily in the Cafe. While thread contents may be somewhat similar, the reading/participating audiences are different.

I got shouted at by the Mod's for posting same info on different boards a couple of years ago, because I knew the Cafe and NC had different readers, but that excuse was not accepted even though they accepted the info was relatively important to both groups.

If there is a change if philosophy, it would be nice to be informed more clearly.

No, except for the new spare and new rim I doubt they were, and the left front has always given Me problems.

New rim is the spare.

Could be the valve then!

Most tyre places will check, by default, that a rim they are fitting a new tyre to is round and without visible damage that would affect the seating of the tyre.
However, sadly, this does not always happen, and not all damage is visible - a few years ago I had a pair of expensive Wolfrace rims that were porous, and after much toing and froing I got the whole set replaced with even more expensive Minilites (which were the one's I wanted but in the first place bout couldn't afford...)

Moving on to your TV woes - you might actually get more selling the bits "for spares and repairs" than trying to sell the whole thing in working order - you've been burnt by a few parts that were sold as "working", but have been DOA. At least getting rid of the bits would give you a little bit of cash.

GPUs - experience with the 10xx series of cards is that they run much cooler than any of the earlier series (with the possible exception of the justly famed 750/750ti), so water cooling is an "expensive, unnecessary luxury". For example: On one of my rigs, changing the pair of GTX970 for a pair of GTX1070ti has reduced the case internal temperature by about 10C, and the case ambient by a similar amount (ambient even at this time of year was around 35C, and is now down to about 28C).

Budget - a wish list is a great thing to have, I have one (new boat, new car, four rigs with triple or quad 1080ti......) But we all have to consider essentials before wish list: food, housing costs & repairs, fuel and the like all come before the wish list items - even on my income I can't buy everything I want to, and I do know what it's like being on a seriously restricted income (less than half of yours). Some read your list of "things to buy" and see it as a list of "things I need to buy", not the two separate lists it really is, so be a little more careful in how you present things and some folks might not get so upset when they see it is actully two lists....
