One of my computers is compiling the FFT's. This is the first time I have seen the two words: "Breakthrough" and "Listen" on the seti screen saver. Is this significant or just something that appears randomly? |

I'm sure there is a post somewhere that explains in detail but I don't remember where it is. This is a short version In the past, most of the data we received was piggybacked off of searches coming from Arecibo down in Puerto Rico. Breakthrough Listen see link below https://breakthroughinitiatives.org/Initiative/1 A small portion of all of that money is being used to buy time on other Telescopes. No, Seti isn't getting any of that money (don't we wish) but what we are getting from this is data that is collected at new telescopes. In this case, we are getting data from Green Bank Observatory. So when you see Breakthrough Listen on your computer, that data is part of the new data that Seti is now getting. Others will be along and provide you with more indepth description I'm sure. Welcome to Seti and Happy Crunching..... Zalster ![]() ![]() |
