I'm thinking of buying a RX480 GPU for the sole purpose of raising my RAC. Do you know what RAC can be expected from such a card? Bonus question, would 8GB of VRAM make difference as opposed to the 4GB versions? Thanks! ![]() |

I ran a RX 480 8Gb in this machine before: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8121459 I ran 2 tasks on the GPU but I know people who where unable to run more than 1 task. Maybe the drivers have improved now but when I had the card the drivers where crappy. If I can recall I think my RAC was somewhere around 20-25K I really would recommend a Nvidia 1050Ti card instead, it's cheaper and has less power draw and you get the same RAC from that card. ![]() "SETI is probably the most important quest of our time, and it amazes me that governments and corporations are not supporting it sufficiently."- Arthur C. I'm looking for a pure GPU number, surely 20-25k includes the CPU, right? If not that would be an amazing RAC :) Thanks! ![]() |

Hard to say GPU RAC only. But I would think you can get around 20K in RAC with only RX 480 card. ![]() "SETI is probably the most important quest of our time, and it amazes me that governments and corporations are not supporting it sufficiently."- Arthur C. Clarke 2006 |

I'm looking for a pure GPU number, surely 20-25k includes the CPU, right? If not that would be an amazing RAC :) My R9 390X seems to be good for ~27-29K running 1 task at a time. So I would estimate a RX 480 at ~22-23K. Some have said their 1050 ti's are good for ~15k. That feels a bit high to me. Since a 750 ti is good for ~10k. I feel ~12-13k may be more accurate. Wiggo has reported their GTX 1060's run ~18-19k. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours |

My stats put the median somewhat shy of 700 credit/hour so 16,800 / day? |

I'm looking for a pure GPU number, surely 20-25k includes the CPU, right? If not that would be an amazing RAC :) . . Actually if they are running an OC version of the 1050ti that is probably correct. I am running a low profile version in my Core2 Duo (stock clocks) and I am getting 13K with only a minor asist from one CPU core. GPU alone is good for about 12K, so I would think something like an ASUS Strix version could achieve about the 15K mark. Also, anyone who can get 10K out of a 750ti will have no problems getting 15K out of the 1050ti. And I think you are behind the times with Wiggo's results on the 1060s, they are more like 20K to 21K. {edit- as Wiggo points out, that is with a low Guppi diet} . . I do agree that while the 1050ti would give more bang/watt than the 480, the 480 would give more output overall. But anyone who thinks it will give more than a 1060 needs to check again. Stephen :) |

I'm looking for a pure GPU number, surely 20-25k includes the CPU, right? If not that would be an amazing RAC :) At this point in time my Gainward GeForce GTX 1060 3GB's are averaging 22K each while my ASUS DUAL-GTX1060-O3G's are averaging 23.5K each. Cheers. |
