Start->type "add remove programs" (without quotes) in Search->wait for the search to populate and click on Add or remove programs. Wait for the list to completely load. Click on BOINC->Uninstall->Acknowledge. If Windows throws an error message, see this BOINC FAQ on how to reinstall BOINC to fix that error message, to then uninstall it. Or how to remove the BOINC installation with tools. Next, open Windows Explorer. On the Address bar, click to select "Libraries" and type over that c:\programdata\ and hit Enter. In the directory find BOINC and delete it. This last step will delete the complete BOINC data directory, with everything in it. So if you weren't truly wanting to do that, beware. |

Thanks. I will try it. The reason I want to delete this program is I have problems with the mouse disappearing and cannot get it back when I want to return to the computer after SETI is running. I tried to use the add remove programs but it did not show up there for some reason. It did not show Boinc or SETI at all. I also used Task Manager and it showed this program was being used and using a lot of CPU usage. I finally got it to stop by deleting everything associated with it at start up. But when I went to My Computer and found under Program Files and then found BOINC it would not delete as it was being used at that time. I will try your other suggestion using Windows Explorer and libraries and hope that will work Thanks |

It did not show Boinc or SETI at all. It won't show Seti, as that's just one of the projects you can run under BOINC. It doesn't install, but its applications get downloaded by BOINC. If BOINC isn't in the list, you have to think where you got your BOINC from. Other sources may rename it. For example, if you got it from World Community Grid, it'll be called World Community Grid. If you got it from GridRepublic, it'll be called GridRepublic. Success. |
