I wonder what everybody's favorite shows have been this year? Here's my top 3: 1: Mr. Robot (Season 2) This is the best show I have seen since Breaking Bad and it's also the most mysterious, gripping show since LOST. I'm almost obsessed by it and can't wait for season 3. This show is ahead of everything else on so many levels. The acting! The cinematography! The score! The storytelling and the incredible amount of detail! Best mindf*ck I had in a long time! 2: Black Mirror (Season 3) I just recently discovered this show and it's great overall. It deals with the effects which tech/internet/social media has on our lives and how it could turn out in the future. It doesn't demonize those things, but it reminds us to be careful. As Mr. Robot, it's a challenging show. It doesn't give easy answers, it won't make you feel good after watching an episode but it sure as hell will make you think about what you just saw! 3: House Of Cards (Season 4) The show is already beyond it's prime, but not so much as GOT. And I still enjoy seeing Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood so much, he is just perfect for this role. Notes: Haven't had a chance to see Westworld yet, unfortunatly. Right now I'm watching two new shows, The Expanse (after 5 episodes I like it, but I don't think it's a top 3 candidate) and The OA (just seen 3 episodes, but this one could be a candidate for a top 3 spot) |

Interesting in that for several reason this is the year I switched from "over the air" TV to online and catch-up. I have joined Amazon Prime which has a large array of good TV and Films to watch and an even bigger choice of films and TV you have never heard of!! My favourite series on Prime has to be The Man In the High Castle, which is an Amazon production but in my view is better than a lot of the standard TV available. For "broadcast" TV I have been watching the Chris Tarrant Extreme Railways which I believe is only available on UK Channel 5. I have found I wait till the series has been broadcast then you can watch them all online as and when you want, I have just watched the first two episodes of series 3 again, because I can :-) Also a very modern stand up comedian, Dave Gorman's "Modern Life is Goodish" I saw the first series on TV ( a channel called Dave!!) and have been able to catch up with the next 3 series online. It takes a lot to make me laugh but he manages it! All this reminds me of a book I read many years ago called Being Digital, which discusses the Negroponte Switch Which is now happening. |

In my state, thankfully, the cat in Schrody' box is always alive when I open it. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Interesting in that for several reason this is the year I switched from "over the air" TV to online and catch-up. Amazon Prime indeed is great, they have a ton of quality content and it's really cheap (although they are going to raise the price here soon from €49/year to €69/year). I heard a lot of good things about "The Man In The High Castle" but I just can't get into that show. I tried twice but somehow it's just not for me.
I just watched this recently. It's not the type of show I usually prefer (it's pretty much the equivalent of a popcorn movie) but I have to admit it's quite entertaining. I was just a bit pissed when I realised that what we have right now is just the first half of season 1. |
