Might it have to do with cooking? "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Might it have to do with cooking? That is not an easy questions to answer. But in a very broad sense Yes. That is if you define the preparation of all eatable things as cooking. |

OK .. so maybe it's not known as a potato shaver... by everyone. Perhaps others might call it an Ice Shaver? |

Jumpin Johnny came up with it first, an Ice shaver used to make: Brazil - Raspadinha Bangladesh - Gola Colombia - Raspado Costa Rica - Copos and also called Granizado Cuba - Granizados Dominican Republic - FrÃo FrÃo and also in some parts of the country they are called Yun Yun El Salvador - Minuta France - Granite Hawaïen Guatemala - Granizada but in other parts of the country they are also called Raspado Guyana - Crush Ice or Snow Cone and are topped with condensed milk. Haïti - Fresco Italy - Granita, Grattachecca India - Chuski Taiwan - Baobing There is also a version known as snow flake ice which uses shaved frozen milk and other flavors. Japan - Kakigori Korea - Patbingsu Mexico - Raspado, Yuki (only in northern Mexico) Nicaragua - Raspado Peru - Raspadilla Philippines - Halo halo Puerto Rico - Piragua Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia - Ais/Es kacang Pakistan, Baraf ka Gola Panama - Raspao, often topped with sweetened condensed milk Suriname - Schaafijs Thailand - Nam khaeng sai English and French Caribbean islands - Snowball Colombia - Raspado or Cholado United States - Shaved Ice Honduras - Minuta, often topped with sweetened condensed milk Mauritius - Glaçon Rapé Venezuela - Cepillados PM sent, and that does not stand for Potato Mash. |

Told ya that was easy. JaundicedEye gets the win by using the word "governor". It was a prime invention with the steam engine by James Watt. It is a Watt Centrifugal Governor, my father called it a "whirling derbish". Potato Message sent. |

Thanks for the win Johnny, that Potato spinner reminds me of a Band I enjoy, "The Beet Diggers". Well here's a tool I used to work on...........have fun!! I need the exact name of the device, not just what it does.......extra points for the Manufacturer's name. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |
