Message 1843581 - Posted: 21 Jan 2017, 19:17:40 UTC - in response to Message 1843577.

I take offense to that statement Sirius. I for one have been saying all along that we will see worldwide turmoil as a result of the incoming POTUS and his affiliations. I certainly am not only focused on my own agenda, rather I've been trying to point out the ugly agendas that could stem from this administration.

I've seen that, however, like me, you are just one voice - unfortunately.

You do have one advantage that we here do not - you are 6000 miles away. We're stuck here watching them "attempt" to create a USE & outdo the USA - It would never have worked which is why we're seeing what we do now.

Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring or indeed, whether we will be here tomorrow.

Is saying that "the Liberals & Socialists are too focused with their own personal agendas that they are blind to what is staring them in the face" offensive?
Whatever next. "Shut up"?

That's not fair Jan, Ex is entitled to an opinion just as good as us. Your post would have been ok if the last 2 words were left out.

Definitely heating up :-)

Yes. Three countries in Europe are renowed to sing.
Ireland, Sweden and Estonia.
Why? No idea.
But we do it in many occasions.
Even our king sings "Helan går" at christmas times.

"A frank discussion Theresa?"

Make sure your knickers are made of iron (double pun intended).

Wasn't it your predecessor that decimated our armed forces with his SDR? Don't you Tories dislike forking out any money to "sensible" organisations unless your rich friends grab a slice?

"She told the Financial Times she believed the new president recognised the importance and significance of Nato and the "importance of the co-operation we have in Europe to ensure our collective defence and collective security"."

Well the Donald said that you have to pay your fair share as well as the rest of Europe, so that "little chat" next week will be VERY interesting.

May to meet Trump next week

Of course the Trump Nazi will start demanding Mafia style protection money, and it's not going to be the NATO goal of spending 2% of the GDP on defense.
Be prepared for a Mafia demand of spending 8% of the GDP on defense, and 2% of the GDP directly to the Trump personal Nazi account.

Why will he need to do that?

"In the recently announced fiscal year 2017 (FY2017) defence budget request in the US, the Obama administration has requested $3.4 billion (€3.1 billion) for the European Reassurance
Initiative, launched in response to Russian aggression in Ukraine. Although this is a mere drop in the ocean of the $582.7 billion budget request, it is significant that current budget for the initiative has quadrupled."

He can dip his fingers into the underlined :-)

Jann, here is some food for thought......

Wars around the world have killed three times more people over the past half-century than previously estimated, a new study suggests.

"War kills more people than we had previously thought," said lead researcher Ziad Obermeyer, a research scientist at Brigham & Women's Hospital, in Boston.

The researchers estimate that 5.4 million people died from 1955 to 2002 as a result of wars in 13 countries. These deaths range from 7,000 in the Democratic Republic of Congo to 3.8 million in Vietnam .

Data from this new study also suggests that 378,000 people worldwide died a violent death in war each year between 1985 and 1994, compared with 137,000 estimated at the time.

Was that a war? It was never declared a war by your country.
Therefore I think we need a definition of war before any of your quotes can be assessed.

edit] Talking of deaths in conflicts, 2016 was the first year since 1968 the UK forces had no deaths in conflict. 1968 was the only year in the 20th Century with no UK Forces deaths in conflict.

hmmm, choices, who to pick, that is the question!

Who can we thank for setting the EU on a path to total disbandment? Farage or Merkel?

Nexit on the way?

German bank stung by US & UK.

Alles in Ordnung

Wonder what would be Frau Merkel's answer to that?

2 dates for Frau Merkel to think about - 23/6/16 & 8/11/16.

Be very afraid Mrs Merkel

All what is wrong with politics today

"Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi has said the executive order from President Trump bans him from the US and makes him feel discriminated against for the first time since he was a child."

So, Mr Zahawi, no comments on your own country banning all Israeli's from entering?

Not much of a diplomat are you!

Now Brexit was about taking back control from the EU, or so they say. Bring back sovereignty and controlling for ourselves laws on immigration, human rights and the economy.
The recent court case was about the need for Parliament to vote on restoring the UK constitution.

So why then does the Governments paper released yesterday say;
“The sovereignty of Parliament is a fundamental principle of the UK constitution. Whilst Parliament has remained sovereign throughout our membership of the EU, it has not always felt like that.”

If that quote is true, then surely the UK can decide, without penalty, to disregard some EU laws, without Brexit.
