Trickle-down economics (AKA Reaganomics) NEVER GOT TRIED.

I hear the same from people who praise socialism.

The Authoritarians were not about to give up the power that they had stolen from the People.

And they never will. They've always had the power. Always. The rest is just an illusion of choice. Even the Trump election is proof of that.

This is not going to turn around overnight. WE need to give Trump the respect and time to see how he is going to handle things once he is in office. And for some years afterward.

We can already see how it's shaping up before office:

"Donald Trump’s cabinet is almost complete, and his picks so far provide a picture of domestic priorities that are a nearly 180-degree departure from President Obama. Consider: He selected a vocal critic of the Environmental Protection Agency - and climate-change skeptic - to run the EPA; a fast-food CEO, who opposes a minimum-wage hike and wants fewer workplace regulations, to run the Labor Department; an Obamacare foe to run the Health and Human Services, which administers the health care law; and a critic of public education to run the Education Department. And that’s to say nothing of the Small Business nominee who is principal donor to his foundation and a wrestling CEO. Her wrestlers are independent contractors, who are required to sign exclusive contracts that state they can’t sue for injuries or even death."

Not looking so good from here.

I certainly agree. Everything he's done and said disturbs me. I've gone from being a news junkie to barely paying attention. Not the most constructive response, but it beats walking around angry and worried all the time.

Well, naysayers...........
I am usually not an optimist, but I find it necessary at this juncture.
Our country's very life is at stake about now, and I shall not succumb to the dismal future that some of you are describing.
We have a chance at greatness again now.
If Hillary had won, we would only continue down the road to ruin destined by her Democratic ilk.

Now at least we have a fighting chance.
That is my opinion, and I shall stand behind it for the months and years to come.

I may, perhaps be taken aback by a move or two on the boards, but I suspect the I shall like his end game.

And may I propose that you eventually shall too.

And yes, I am asking for a public apology.
Not that I suspect I shall get same.

I make use of these boards more than some do.
And I request that my posts be respected as much as anybody else's are.

I have seen where there is some pretty reliable technology that can detect when a person is telling a lie. Maybe if that technology were widely available and used when watching or listening to the "news" we could get a better perspective on what's really going on. Of course there is the printed media that wouldn't be affected but at least some of the news might get more accurate.

Nope, the talking head has no clue about the veracity of the stuff on the teleprompter. Walter Cronkite was the last of his kind.

I'd like for you to at least acknowledge how the clintons got rich and how the trumps got rich.

clinton: Claimed to be broke when impeached bill left office. Then, the clinton crime family money laundering pay for play foundation made them rich again.

Trump: Real Estate. Casinos. TV Programs. Recently said he'll take $1/year salary as long as he's president.

Trump got rich because it trickled down to him from his daddy. Like father, like son.

He is a crook, that enabled him to maintain what his father gave him.

Fred Trump seems to have been
Trump was investigated by a U.S. Senate committee in 1954 for profiteering from public contracts, including overstating his Beach Haven building charges by US$3.7 million.[2] In testimony before the Senate Banking Committee in 1954, William F. McKenna, appointed to investigate "scandals" within the FHA, cited Fred C. Trump and his partner William Tomasello as examples of how profits were made by builders using the FHA. McKenna said the two paid $34,200 for a piece of land which they then rented to their corporation for over $60,000 per year in a 99-year lease, so that if the apartment they built on it ever defaulted, the FHA would owe $1.5 million on it. McKenna said that Trump and Tomasello then obtained loans for $3.5 million more than the apartments cost.[11] Trump testified before the Senate Banking Committee the following month as it investigated "windfall profits." He said that builders would not have built apartments under an expired post-war loan insurance program if regulations had set inflexible limits on loans issued by the FHA.[12] In September 1954, following Trump's testimony, 2,500 tenants of the Beachhaven apartments sued Trump and the FHA, claiming the builder made windfall profits and that the builder had received loans for $4 million more than the construction actually cost, and that rents were consequently inappropriately inflated.[13]

Also seems to have been a KKK member
On Memorial Day in 1927, the Ku Klux Klan marched in the Queens borough of New York City, the purpose being that "Native-born Protestant Americans" were being "assaulted by Roman Catholic police of New York City."[7] Fred Trump was one of seven men who were arrested that day "on a charge of refusing to disperse from a parade when ordered to do so."[7] One article on the riot, written in the Long Island Daily Press, stated that all seven arrestees were wearing Klan attire, leading some to speculate that Fred may have been a member of the KKK.[8]

Fred's son Donald denied all allegations of the arrest when asked by the New York Times in 2015,[9] disputing the residency of his father claimed in the original report (175-24 Devonshire Road, Jamaica). In February 2016, The Washington Post reported that U.S. Census records confirm that Fred did reside at that address at the time of his arrest.[7][8]

I wonder what will happen when the dream turns into a nightmare (it's only a matter of time at the rate that it's going). :-)

Cheers.

The writing is on the wall in bold 72 point type.

Might be why some Republicans are desperate to have an investigation into Russian hacking, so they have some method left of claiming that Trump is not a Republican like they are when it hits the fan. Trump is terrified because the Electoral College hasn't voted yet and if they found out the truth ...

The democrats are deathly afraid that Trump is going to demonstrate the democrats are the reason this country is in decline.

No, I think the democrats (and myself and others) are afraid that the alt-right is going to take a country that has been slowly improving (after the damage caused by the last republican administration), and undo everything that has been done.

I challenge your incoming administration to prove me wrong, we'll see what happens to wages and the economy in the years to come.

(again I am not yet getting to the other obvious agendas of the incoming administration, as the intelligent squirrel has mentioned these agendas are ridiculously obvious and pretty damn scary...)

Hmmm...
Exxon Mobil Corp. Chief Executive Officer Rex Tillerson will be nominated as President-elect Donald Trump’s secretary of state, setting up a potential confirmation battle with U.S. lawmakers who have questioned his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

It sounds like some of you folks want to see failure just to prove you are right.

Karma is a bitch.

Didn't you get a big enough dose already?

Be careful what you wish for...

What exactly is the problem with a Very Successful and Practical Person with Real World Experience?

The problem as I see it is very simple: what do these uber-rich global elites really care about you and me? It seems to me history proves time and time again people like this are only concerned with their own agenda and never with the well being of the people. The fact that *any* multi-billionaire can be considered to have 'real world experience' is kind of funny to me. What do these people's lives have to do with the *real world*?

And you are familiar with Exxon and who/what they are, right? Read up on them a bit and I don't think you'll be so excited to have their arm stretched around you...

What exactly is the problem with a person who really knows Putin, and not some incompetent Democrat President and two incompetent Democrat Secretary's of State attempting a Russian Re-Set?

Not a problem- until we suddenly find our country aligning with nations/actions/ideas that represent others' interests more than our own.

Long story short, the middle class in this country voted to oust one group of elites who are in the pockets of these uber-rich interests and has brought these uber-rich interests into direct control instead.

Now I get it that some believe that this is the answer but I don't get *why*. If someone has a chance to improve the world you and me live in, or improve the gated community/highrise tower they live in, what do you think that someone is going to look out for? This logic can be applied to anyone in positions that control money. And don't give me that 'invisible hand' horse- manure, these guys have gotten very good at working among themselves to be the invisible hand and make sure you aren't inadvertently given a bargaining chip.
