Inspired by binge watching Star Trek on Netflix I thought A Seti@Home com badge would be a cool thing to have.
Something like this only way better ( designed by a graphic designer or engineer or scientist who can draw).

Please excuse the poor image quality I cant hold the phone still today.
As far as I know metal badges are reasonably cheap to get made and can be sold for a good profit. I would be happy to pay up to$20 for a really nice looking badge the size of my paper one.

Good idea. I have requested a couple of quotes for a 1 1/4 x 3/4 gold lapel pin with the existing logo as below. I am expecting the cost to be around $3-5 in small quantities.

If we do this I would be happy to donate anything over cost back to S@H
I will update as I find out.

That's actually a pretty well drawn radio transmitter.

I'd definitely be in on this venture. I collect pins of all sorts.

Great idea Monday - would sit nicely alongside my signed tee-shirt :-)

(Sorry to hear that you are not able to hold things still just now - hope this passes soon)

Me too but I have a lot of trouble with cameras in phones. You cant beat a nice big heavy SLR pushed tightly onto your face and elbows planted onto your chest for shake free photos.

Well I got one bid back already. Here is their proof.

Cost for 100 of them would be $320.00 So $3.20 each. This would be 1 1/4 inches tall.

You guys still want something bigger and geekier?

For that price, I'd take one of this design and a geekier one too.

I like it, but I'd also like to see something closer to Monday's design, too.

I will see what I can develop.

The larger badges need to have the broach style safety pin type attachment, those push through pins with the little hat type holders damage clothing too much.

edit- my design is 2 1/4 inches high and the dish is 1 3/4 inches wide.

Hey, I think this is a pretty neat idea.
I'd bet even my kitties would wear one...LOL

One has to realize though, that when one talks about the cost being $3.20 each, the selling price would have to be at least double that if this is to be a fundraising effort for the project. Maybe even in the $10.00 range. Plus S&H.....

Higher quality ferrous metals required would probably make the manufacturing costs too high to be profitable for Seti@Home .

Magnetic is an option. It adds about $1 to the cost of pin.

How 'bout some Seti shotglasses, with the Seti logo on one side, and a flying toaster on the other?
Well, one can dream..............

Meow.

EDIT.....
And if one is not into imbibing by the shot, this idea could be extended to some nice beer mugs, or for something a bit more elegante, some nice wine glasses.
I can see Angela and Eric pouring some wine into a couple of Seti wine glasses over a candlelight dinner........
