Ace hardware had them on sale once 4 60 watts for $10 which is a real buy. I did my GF house and switched them all out also. And I love the tree lights too, no heat and if one goes out you still have the rest of them going. |

No ACE's in the Barstow CA area anymore, once the Home Depot put in their Barstow CA store, ACE's and True Value died after a month... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I have seen that many times, they just can't compete with the big boys. Like the corner drug stores are all but gone. |

Snow, snow, and more.......................snow. No, just bored, and we're stocked up, and we have a whole house generator if the power goes off. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Snow, snow, and more.......................snow. Well, at least you are well prepared then. I have a good stockpile of food on hand, and a fresh 20lb sack of kibble for the kitties. Dunno if we'd make it 'till spring, but the weather is forecast to moderate a bit within a week or so. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

20lb sack of kibble for the kitties. I have 45 pounds of hay for my bunnies, and that will last 3 months. I could see myself as an over-winter manager of a place like the Overlook, in The Shining. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Well Gordon it sounds like you really want to see if the generator runs. LOL Two of my sisters live in upstate New York (buffalo area ) and one dreads seeing it come. And it looks like a big one this time. As kids we had to walk to school 1 1/2 miles in that white fluffy stuff and froze our butts off.. In short I don't miss the stuff at all. LOL |

Well Gordon it sounds like you really want to see if the generator runs. I definitely don't envy Buffalo, but we haven't had a good blanket of snow in quite awhile. We had a terrible ice storm in January of 2009, though, which knocked out power for over a week, and after that is when we got the whole house generator installed. Here snow is mainly for the Mountains, for the deserts, it's the occasional treat in the winter time. As the snow provides water for downstream users outside of winter. Negative temps are not normally seen here, though last it really snowed here, the temp did get down to 20F for a bit. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Well it's going to be a cold night tonight, My gas central heater's pilot light is out, again, so the PC is going to have to do the job overnight, and maybe for the entire weekend here in Yermo CA. I'm going to call someone who lives in the park on Saturday, another $75 I can not afford currently. Inside temp 73F, and dropping. My osteoarthritis is not going to like this... The temp outside is 45.7F, feels like 37F, predicted low 34F... I now have the gas range on, for a bit, it's cold inside... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Come visit me, Vic. CHICAGO (WLS) -- Another weekend winter storm moved into the Chicago area Friday afternoon, bringing snow, ice and bitter cold. Snow began falling in the city shortly before 4 p.m. and while the snow is light, it is so cold that even light snow will stick. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from noon Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday for the Chicago area. Travel conditions will deteriorate. It will not be a consistent snow storm, said ABC 7 meteorologist Cheryl Scott. Friday night's snow will taper off in the early morning hours, and some areas could see some freezing drizzle during that break. Then another round of snow will begin Saturday night and into Sunday morning. |

We have a saying here: "No way, Jose." Even if I could, I'm not leaving Grace My cat behind, besides I know it's colder there, I do watch the weather channel, and I just turned the gas range off. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

[quote]Come visit me, Vic. CHICAGO (WLS) -- Another weekend winter storm moved into the Chicago area Friday afternoon, bringing snow, ice and bitter cold. I spent one winter in Naperville on a project we was working on and it was all outside, I was so sick all winter and just couldn't shake it. When they said the project had ended and come home(after 6 months) They didn't have to say it twice, I was out of there. |

I understand Vic & Grant. If I lived in California would not want to leave. Have a touch of arthritis so the cold does not help. We had to buy some space heaters. |

I understand Vic & Grant. If I lived in California would not want to leave. Shoulder blades since I was at least 40, Hips and elsewhere since I was at least 43. Today I felt terrible, I was so tired, maybe it was the effort at installing 6 LED lamps and 5 shades, 1 shade is awaiting some nuts that are down at the Post Office, I hope they fit too, plus there are 2 LED lamps for the gas range hood on the way, the last 2 LED lamps will be a beast to install, as the glass shades need cleaning. I'm hoping a Las Vegas NV phone book and a large igloo legend 72 cooler will allow Me to replace 2 cfl lamps, with 2 led lamps, without a ladder, the least would cost Me $183.96 for a 4' step ladder(Green Bull), a DeWalt 6' step ladder would be $211.89... Both amounts are for a 500lb capacity step ladder delivered to Me. I was told I looked sick, I just felt really tired, but I did get some food from the local food pantry, My house has more than enough chicken(2), canned veggies, and mashed potato mix(3 bags), not to mention peanut butter... Vic, you be damned careful trying to climb on that cooler with a dang phone book on it to change light bulbs. If you fall and ring your bell, Grace is not going to be able to pick you up. Just sayin'................ And as to the weather here. Got a half a foot or a little more yesterday evening. Laid off a bit last night, but another round with a few more inches is headed in later this morning. Along with rising winds and dropping temps. Dunno if I am gonna get out the snowblower this afternoon or just wait and brave the wind chills to do it tomorrow. (Secretly hoping that my neighbor takes pity on my as he did last year and brings over his John Deere tractor/blower to help me out.) I did thank him profusely in the spring for having done so. One the bright side, by later Monday or Tuesday, the deep freeze retreats, and the kitties shall see some upper twenties and maybe even very low thirties for temps. Meow.
