If you need credits to justify your existence then I suggest you update to the Newer Special App that produces nearly twice the output of the baseline App you have been using. There isn't any reason for you to continue using the slower App.
That's all I'm going to say about it. It has all been said before.

TL, most everyone knows creditnew in it's present form is screwed but in spite of that the 12k RAC I get here is worth exactly as much as the 90K RAC I get over at Einstein, exactly nothing.

Hi,

my average credit is increasing.

:)

Mine too, but it's mostly because I've brought a couple new machines online...

To be honest, I suppose the fewer people who crunch, the more likely it will be my machine that finds the signal.
That seems fair to me.

To be effective in that, I require a measurement system that I can count on to be realistic, reliable and reasonably linear. Otherwise, I'm just spending money and making changes at random. Why bother?

That's why one should not regress to credits for this task.
Look for APR as very first approach. But better plot throughput vs AR curve for different configs and compare them.
Of course it's not too easy approach as single bold number would be. But that's life. Just imagine that one setting could improve VLAR performance but also adds some delays in VHAR processing. How this could be measured with single number especially when VLAR/VHAR ratio is different for each new tape...

To simplify things a little try to use Lunatics PG-set of tasks of different ARs. They short enough and representative enough (for not high-end GPUs though, they are just too fast for this particular set) to use only single number - sum of elapsed time through all tasks as integral performance characteristic.

BTW, SoG & sah WUs still DON'T WORK on low end graphic cards, like GT 520!

You really should return those back to drawing board & BETAs...

There are no "SoG & sah WUs", there are SoG & sah applications.
So which versions of SoG & sah applications do you run? Stock??

The current dev builds are at r3500+ so the apps are always on "drawing board".
Did you test anything newer than stock?

It's dark arts maths of the finest unfathomables, people, and I'd snort at it less if it said so in my user blurb

--^ *demonstrate crudely* ^-- because I realise that "thwak-kaboom-splat...oh rrreeeaarly?" is simply too long to fit. Instead it reads as randomly applied c**p to me :) so it's just as well I don't care - or I'd be querying it too - and it's just as well all my screenshots are in my dead computer, or I might have got really carried away not complaining :)

So forgive me if this resembles what I'm not doing, but in the times I've flapped a jaundiced eyelash or two at it in detail - I've noted a total credit of 0.3 for a 17 hour astropulse; 32.?? for a one-hour Arecibo mb; AND an 18 minute one; AND 90+ points for another 18 minute one (all with the same wingman and similar setup); and was also awarded 180+ points for a task that took a mere 0.22 seconds to finish.

Should I go on? :) I could...

Perhaps it all balances out in the end :) it just seems a little incongruous to me at times that for generating reliable results, anything above 0 is perhaps the most reliable expectation I can have in return.

So, I'd much rather credit, in all its expressed forms, was something you had to go and dig for on your account page - because then I could ignore it more, which is definitely what I prefer to do :)

edit: but that is just my wish I suspect ;)

oh...and did we say we like humans too? Well we do :)

It utterly ... mystifies me... maybe even more so than my own babblings

I expect I'll forget about it though :) at least until the next wow event - which is the only time I pay attention to it

@petri - hope you feel better soon :)

Yes it is a dark thing according to most normal people but don't accuse me of saying anything about your normality.

I'm already feeling better now.

I hope you're not broken, out of order, hurt or something?

indeed. It's only a symptom of deeper issues with the [more important] estimate mechanism it's connected to.

using STOCK apps...& no, don't want to change that!
using GPU with BOINC should be enough, without installing extras (Lunatics)!

here's a computer:

so you tell me about dev builds...all I see is v8.12 of SETi@home apps!
