In the Museo della Scienza in Florence there are the first optical telescopes built by Galileo. I am not against museums, but now the priority is with projects such as JWST, eLISA and the European Extremely Large Telescope, with a 39 meters multimirror.

Dr.Korpela warns that Arecibo is in danger of closure. It is true that now we get data mainly from Green Bank, sponsored by Yuri Milner with Parkes and Lick. But Arecibo is also a planetary radar, useful for watching NEOs and asteroids.

Well I hope that his money is good as the current government here wants to shut Parkes' funding down.

Cheers.

Hubble has been given another five years.

This telescope is one the humanities greatest treasures. When it retires we need to capture it for the next generations to see and understand what an awesome and groundbreaking instrument this is and was.

Sometimes I wonder, what happened to all the people I gave directions to?
