Smith & Wesson's gun sales boosted profits by 50% on last year.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jun/16/smith-wesson-gun-sales-boosted-profits-50-percent-mass-shootings-fear
How the public think they can protect themself against mass shootings by bying more weapons is beyond me, but there it is...

You have the wrong reason. They want protection from the government. They don't give a whit about mass shootings. Remember how you hate the meddling he USA does? What makes you think it is any better living inside the beast?

Heh, protection from the government, with an assault weapon??

Let's see now.

Private citizen with legal (so far) weapon:

Government:

[image]removed[/img]
[image]removed[/img]

Geeze, you must have eaten lots of hormone treated meat, lots of stuff from Monsanto, and reading lots of rightwing militia crap, to not understand how that would end.

Boy! There's nothing like making up your own scenario just to make yourself look "right" huh? Geeze, get a life!

That "legal (so far)" weapon is not a fully automatic weapon, it is semi-auto meaning you have to pull the trigger each time you want the gun to fire. The Government and criminals are the only entities that have automatic weapons.

BTW, think again who really needs to get a life. It isn't exactly life that your gun crazy culture stands for, is it? Think again about getting a life, and not thousands of deaths.

You and the likes of you are creating your own scenarios of what it is like in our country. If you haven't done so already, come visit our country and you will see that at least 90% of the people here are not the GUN TOTING MANIACS like you make us out to be.

You, sir, have hit my ignore list. I refuse to see your false BS about my country.

They want protection from the government. They don't give a whit about mass shootings.

Unbelievably primitive.

In the civilised world it is different:
If you feel your Government or any other Authority does wrong to you, you always can make a complaint.

You also can contact the Journalistic Media Representatives and perhaps get it public.

If those two ways do not work, you can take the matter into a Court. Oftentimes, you would also be entitled to legal assistance.

In the civilised world, it is never a weapon matter.

You forgot (or ignored) the rest of the quote:
Remember how you hate the meddling he USA does? What makes you think it is any better living inside the beast?

To take the Government to court would require funds the likes of which only Microsoft could afford.

Complain to the Government or authorities for wrongs they do? Yeah right! They are right and the citizens are wrong, no matter how right the citizens are 99.9% of the time the Government or authorities win.

The Government and authorities control the media.

Our Government is bordering on oppressiveness. Our government is no longer "of the people", it is of the Government. If that makes any sense. :) This is how I and many others see our current Government. And it's only getting worse.

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

A weapon such as a large magazine semi automatic rifle is a very efficient killing machine as are sawed off shotguns and machine guns. We have effectively gotten rid of sawed off shotguns and machine guns, why are semi automatic rifles different?

Or any rapid fire weapon? (this includes gas, pump & lever actions)

Any half decent hunter or sportsperson doesn't need anything more than a single/double barrel single/double shot or a bolt action repeating long rifle, it only takes 1 shot to do the job cleanly (if you can't/or don't do that, then you don't deserve to own a firearm at all).

Only would be homicidal maniacs need anything more that.

Cheers.

Hey! I resemble that remark. Har! ;^)

I just picked up another 100 round mag for my 223.

They are a little $pendy though.

Sounds like you think the US is at brink of civil war.
For some odd reason the rest of world don't think so:)
And I'm quite certain that almost every american don't thinks that either!

I decided that since many here like to post links to make a point, I would follow suit. There are just a few that I found when I googled "us government bordering on oppressive".

I did not say anything about being on the "brink" of civil war.

The rest of the world only sees what our Government wants it to see.

Believe what you will...

And the U.S.A. is not part of the civilized world? :(

Who da thunk... ;)

The rest of the world only sees what our Government wants it to see.

Nonsense.

And the western world think that the U.S.A. is very much part of the civilized world.

Geez...

How Europe can 'Wag their finger' at anyone else. Is the question of the ages.

Every country, (NOT continents Clyde), 'Wag their finger' at anyone else.

American Culture may be bad. But Europe's is worse.

There is no single European culture.
There are only many countries with many languages and cultures in Europe.
So you have to name which country that have worse culture than the american culture.
Sweden, Poland or Britain perhaps...

The problem is that so many other americans generalise other countries.

Thats funny:) War ruble or war rubble?
As for war ruble, Russia is at war with Ukraine already in Europe.
War rubble in other parts in Europe are very unlikely in a foreseeable future.
Financial wars yes but not military wars.

Anyway. The thread starts to go off topic.

From start to finish, it took a CBS News producer 38 minutes and $1,030 to legally purchase an assault rifle, 100 rounds of ammunition, and a 30-round magazine.
No waiting procedures.
Just providing drivers licence and voter id card to prove state recidency and passport to show US citizenship.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvgfUrVWGtM
What the heck.
Here it takes 2 weeks just to get a id card and a passport.
Why is there no waiting list in the US to buy a heavy weapon?
Right now the expected turnaround time is 7-10 weeks to get a licence in the Stockholm region.
