The attitude of Americans towards arms should be considered in a historical context.Perfect description of the US. |

Failure to adapt to changing conditions leads to extinction. In the UK, since Charles I we beheaded him, and in Europe our Monarch's have no political authority. Unlike the US that has given King Donald have absolute control on anything he decides to sign. So who is the backward country? Obviously the USA. |

Sorry Nick, your House of LORDS and House of COMMONS says it all. "........please Sir, may I have some more?............" "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Sorry Nick, your House of LORDS and House of COMMONS says it all.Sigh... House of Lords are not lawmakers in the UK. It have only the right to postpone legislative proposals decided by the House of Commons for some time. In what year do you live in? 1789? |

Sorry Nick, your House of LORDS and House of COMMONS says it all.Sigh... What is the difference between the UK House of Commons and the US House of representatives, both are voted for by the people (commoners) in their districts. If there is a difference it is that the campaign in the UK is done on a very limited controlled and supervised budget, while in the US it usually comes down to who has the biggest budget and has the support of the NRA. edit] I would also add that the heads of departments in the UK are usually chosen from elected members of parliament not appointed as in the US, Pruitt et al. |

both are voted for by the people (commoners)............and that also says it all.........EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN is a 'commoner'..........but we're PROUD of that label. We're a nation of common people, no King, no Lords and Ladies, no Duke and Duchess of Cleveland, no 'Titled' or 'Knighted' or 'Landed' divisions. "All men are created EQUAL"..............not some to rule and some to be 'common'.........all common. All free to rise to whatever level of society they choose. How many can 'rise to be King' in your system? "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

How many can 'rise to be King' in your system?Sigh again... You are totally ignorante to how monarky work today in Europe. Even how it have worked for centuries. Yes. more than 1000 years. If we take Sweden for instance. A king was always ELECTED in the old days by the commons. Yes. Like a President today. And the commons always had the right to EVICT the king if necessary. For instance Gustav IV Adolf in 1809. This time the commons ELECTED a French Napolean Marshal instead to be King of Sweden. Today in the US Trump think he has more power than an european king. Well, to me Trump act more like a dictator than a king or a president. |

Luckily the US have a Congress:)Not luck, moomin by design. Checks and balances, unfortunately our Congress has lost the ability to see beyond it's own self preservation and has devolved into bickering children. Throw in the disruption of business by the Russian BS (whether planned or not has been a wedge between Americans) prolonging the belief by some that the Presidency was fraudulently won and you have basically chaos in the Legislature. Who will be galvanized enough to vote? As in 2016 that is the question and depends on many things. The confirmation battle for Justice nominee Kavanaugh will be one of those factors, if the Dims Resist and Obstruct tactics get as nasty as they're looking a lot of middle road independents may vote the Conservative choice along with former Democrats who have become disaffected by the Marxist/Socialist path the donkeys have taken. SO ARE YOU saying that not a single member of those groups voted for or against Trump? Did you see them vote & who they voted for? Have you picked up that book from the library yet? |

I have had some, repeating some long time Liberal Democrat and Working Class Democrat voters saying they believe the Democrat Party has abandoned their principles. They have told me they might vote Republican. Eye as have many Republicans who are totally put off by the reactionary tea wing of the party. |

Clyde, this What are the political leanings of these groups, Academia, Police, Homeless, Veterans, Union Members, I cannot imagine they all have similar views and some of them are usually at odds with each other. As you didn't mention political leanings of those groups why go on to imply your family are not in agreement. This "The present situation appears to be very fluid" should have been the end of that collection of words. And didn't anybody mention the abandoned principles of the GOP, like free trade, balanced budget, etc.. I'd find it rather odd in such a wide range of people, who are not natural bedfellows, for no one to be critical of the the GOP. |

There will be no response from me to anything posted by Vadim in the future. Then we have something in common. |
